I have great news, everyone!
I have great news, everyone!
My husband is NOT, in fact, an alcoholic....! He merely has "a drinking problem"!
And all this time I've been thinking he's a raging alcoholic! Turns out if you can stop for a week, it proves you aren't an alcoholic! Even if you b**ch every day about not drinking!
Who knew?
Guess I'll have to take the blame for his 4th of July behavior in public, then!
And his escalated drinking since.
And me having to go stay the night at his elderly parent's house last night.
And...
And...
And...
Sorry. Guess I needed an explosion of sarcasm.

Oh wow, what a relief that must have been for you to find out that you were not in fact married to an alcoholic. I think now you can go on living your life like nothing ever happened. (sarcasm is fun aint it?)
Good luck tho. SR is always here for you to let off some steam!

Nawh. He couldn't be an alcoholic. I have stopped for 3 months, so I guess I don't even have a "drinking problem" anymore.
On a serious note, it is not really an issue to be sarcastic about. Being an alcoholic almost cost me everything I have worked at my entire life.
Thank goodness for sobriety.

And I disagree with the previous poster - at times sarcasm is very fitting & when it isn't being used as a weapon, can bring necessary humor & relief to those of us struggling to deal with addicts.

I'll play.
Last summer AH disclosed that he was both an alcoholic and a problem drinker.
Well, once things got legal, turns out, he never said any of those things. He also never went to AA, never had a sponsor, never considered rehab, never bragged about resisting a drink.
Turns out, according to his divorce papers, he's only a 'moderate social drinker'. So that guy drinking alone in the pantry, car, basement, garage - that was...some other sorry drunk.
Oh, and my midwife who walked into AH pushing me and screaming at me when I was pregnant with our fourth child? She says it never happened. And that bit about him driving drunk in her car to pick up our son and bring him home? Naw, he only had a couple of beers...and talking to her for hours about his alcoholism? Nope, can't remember a thing.
So...the only possibility left is that I am completely bonkers!
And that's what they're both telling everyone.
Well, that's a relief. At least I know the truth now.

Yup, much healthier to vent to the other inmates in the same asylum than babbling on the street to strangers.
Anybody remember this?

Gosh, you had me worried there for a minute...
I was like, oh no;(
How can she not see that this man has a serious problem?!?
Isn't a a grrrreat feeling to at least know better now?
Although, it must be awful for you to have to deal with his quacking on a regular basis...

I had to reply to this thread... I laughed out loud at a few of these! And I'm usually posting in the alchy section. Anyway, humor is a good thing, and I can totally relate to some of this!
