Scarcity and Seinfeld

For those of us who catch ourselves (depressed or otherwise) thinking "no one else will love me, want me, be as good as him/her, I won't be able to find someone else" that's coming from a place of scarcity and well that's just NOT TRUE. It's our mind playing tricks on us.

When I get a little dark on this subject I remember this Seinfeld episode. The section starting at 1:38. Snaps me right out of it.

You read my mind Zen. I was just lying on my bed feeling sorry for myself.

"No-one loves me, I'll never find anyone else, he's so happy now he's with someone new, I'm destined to be alone for ever", and so on. (Don't I know how to make myself feel good on a Saturday night)

And then this thread popped up. I love the Seinfield sketch, brilliant, just wish it would happen so easily for those of us who want it.

Thanks for posting

It's true, though. It doesn't always happen within the 1-minute space of a scene in a sitcom, but things really do tend to balance out. Unless, of course, we choose to expend all our energy on what we lost.

Haaa. I needed that. Seinfeld's my favorite show ever. It's a pretty epic thing, this clip. Even Steven!

Well, I didn't watch the clip, but than you, Zen, for the thread.

Lexiecat, I saw myself in your comment! Darn it. :P That is what I do..... have always done, when my obsessive loves fall apart (because they've always been seriously damaged people).

I can't get over them, I believe I'll be alone on an ice floe forever, I flashback on them continuously, even when I'm trying to switch my thoughts. (me and my thoughts ----> )

DAMMIT I am FRUSTRATED with myself.

And wish I could get OK with the state of single-hood. Cuz actually, I'm doing OK; better, actually than when I was walking on eggshells around an angry drunk, praying for a change in him.

They really do.

I wish it didn't take so long sometimes.
