I largely read and post on my phone these days, and it has had a completely unexpected side effect: I can't see whether anyone thanks me for my posts or not.

And that is good for me. Because I found myself looking at that, and feeling really good about myself if many people thanked me - and worrying about if I had offended someone if nobody thanked me.

It's actually carried over to my real life, too. I've had a remarkably stressful couple of months, topped off with a workweek last week that was filled with evening work and lots of overtime and high stress. And I have gotten through it all focusing on what I think is right rather than what I'm afraid people are going to think about me.

And guess what? Nobody has yelled at me. Nobody has fired me, or been mad at me, or anything. The world actually doesn't end because I stand up for myself and say what I think.

What a concept. :laugh

Maybe I need to re-think that.
