Great quotes
Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.
Don't give up - surrender.
Don't pray for things you're not willing to work for.
You can't start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.
Don't believe everything you think
Faith in God includes faith in his timing.

Great thread! I love all the quotes/sayings. Here are a couple I like:
"Stop letting people who do so little for you control so much of your mind, feelings and emotions." Will Smith
“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.” Henry Ford

I do not know who S.H. is, and I am unable to find it in the book.
But this simple sentence has been rattling around in my head, along with other things.
I feel an epiphany coming on!
I love Sober Recovery.

If you understand then things are just as they are.
If you don't understand then things are just as they are.
zen saying.

“You are most powerful when you are most silent. People never expect silence. They expect words, motion, defense, offense, back and forth. They expect to leap into the fray. They are ready, fists up, words hanging leaping from their mouths. Silence? No.”
― Alison McGhee, All Rivers Flow To The Sea
“The secret self knows the anguish of our attachments and assures us that letting go of what we think we must have to be happy is the same as letting go of our unhappiness.”
― Guy Finley

This one kind of sums up my whole experience with my AW.
“A learning experience is one of those things that says, 'You know that thing you just did? Don't do that.”

Two things sitting above my head on my board are:
"Never grow a wishbone where your backbone ought to be." And
"Recovery isn't winning, it's not playing" I don't know where I read the second one: probably here on SR, LOL!

Mike your quote about silence? That's something good investigators know. There's something disconcerting about silence that makes people feel obligated to fill it with something, and that's when they start saying the stupid stuff that you can nail them on.. *evil grin*

I read this yesterday...it really resonated with me and thought it was good to share on this thread:
"Learn to forgive yourself. When you do something that does not make you proud realize this; if you knew better, you would do better." Maya Angelou

"How important is it?" if it doesn't affect my breathing is it really that important?

From SR:
"Life is too short to stress yourself with people who don't even deserve to be an issue in your life."
"It won't always feel this way. Just go about your business."
"Be like a fighter in a ring: Fight fair, but protect yourself at all times."
"Confusion is mostly the result of magical thinking.
Reality is not very confusing at all." (LaTeeDa)
"RIGHT NOW --
the house is safe
your children are safe
you are safe" (BarbDwyer)
"Fear, Guilt, Pity, and Shame are four poor foundations for decisions."
"Why are you surprised when an alcoholic acts like an alcoholic?"
And two others from elsewhere:
"You are better than those who hurt you,
more important than those you fear,
equal to those you trust, and
worthy of those that love you."
"There is no such thing as a fear-free path. In fact, often the paths leading to the greatest joy and growth feel the most fearful. Happily, the best things in life are waiting for you at the exit ramps of your comfort zone." (Karen Salmansohn)
