Words From A Battered Woman

I’m in love with you
followed by I’m so sorry
makes hearts stop beating

Ladies and Gents,
I saw that poem today and thought of you. Thank you to those of you who helped carry me through the worst months of my life. I have been free, unequivocally unburdened by alcoholics, for nearly 9 months now.
I am blissfully happy.
For those of you who are getting out, I am with you in spirit. For those of you debating whether to get out, please know there is a happy life on the other end. No matter how broken or damaged or worthless or unlovable your alcoholic has told you you are.
I survived permanent, body-altering, life-changing physical battering. And yet, I maintain the emotional battering that we suffer at the hands of alcoholics who "love" us can be even worse.
You are all entitled to live battering-free. Each and every one of you.
I'm grateful for all of your advice. I pray each of you in this community find peace. And I leave you today with these words of wisdom from Winnie the Pooh -- a silly childhood character perhaps, but please know how absolutely wise his words are: “Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
Peace and much love.

What an inspiring post, thank you so much for taking the time to share!
How great to read this post! I've worked in the DV field for many years, but there is nothing like the voice of experience to give hope to others.
So glad things are going so well for you!
