Sudden Interest in AA

AH is suddenly interested in AA meetings. I suspect he may be acquiring alcohol either on the way to the meeting or after.

My exabf both drank and used drugs. Well, he was in and out of recovery for years. One time when I was with him (more or less) he was attending outpatient. He would go everyday, sit there for hours, after he left he would buy beer and get plastered, then do the same thing the next day...quite a recovery program!

What you are describing is not unusual.

Like if he was snubbing his nose at AA up until very recently and suddenly became interested, I could see how that would be kind of suspect.

I wouldn't necessarily assume that. I know plenty of people who turned up their noses at it until they were ready.

How old were most of these people when they were ready?

I was 52. Had a lot of respect for AA--for other people. I avoided it at all costs until the cost of NOT going became too great for me.

I was 55, but the problem developed slowly over the previous 10 years; I didn't have it all my life.
