I've been to open AA meetings also, but just because I wanted to go, not to support anybody. I decided that the best support I could give myself and those I loved was to have my own recovery.

When my A got clean the first time, I went to some meetings with him. Just coming out of rehab...he felt really uncomfortable walking into the meetings alone. I liked going but when he felt comfortable he started going on his own. I don't think it hurts to go, but it IS their stuff. It is a good time to find a meeting for yourself. Sometimes they have them at the same place.
