Ready for NC with a "friend"
Ready for NC with a "friend"
Long story short, I made plans to see a longtime "friend" last Friday as I visited my home city (Mexico city). I was looking forward to meet him.
I texted him on Friday night when I was still on my way and he answered "I have been drunk since 1 pm, I did not go back to work after lunch time". I asked what his plan was. He said "Continue drinking in Y place" (WAY away from where he knew I was). It was around 930pm.
Duh, after several years, this is the first time I suspect he has drink issues.
He is a drummer in a rock band. We had our jokes. We had good times...
I continued my life without him and woke up to a message from him at 8 AM saying "I am destroyed!" as if it was fun. (Gladly for me I now put my mobile in Silence mode at night, I am really NOT in the mood to be woken up by a drunk calling me, ever)
I went to my event on Saturday and he was messaging me vague things.. at 4 AM he asked me where I was.. (as if I was also partying until then and waiting for him..).
I realized I am done with clinging to our good times and right now this person is no longer one I want in my life.. someone who does not respect my time.
The good news is that I saw 4 great friends during the weekend, and all of them were sober, made efforts to move around to see me, even invited me lunch. Normal life! normal friendships! YAY! I feel healthier.
Just wanted to share while I delete his number and block him from Facebook.

Now he just messaged me, asking where I was.
Its Tuesday morning here, I am working back in the town where I now live!
I guess he is just coming back to his senses (it was a national holiday, yesterday)...

Yeah that's annoying for sure...
I usually distance myself from people like that. It's sad some people think getting wasted is a sport or a hobby, and why do they feel the need to tell you all about it? They think it's amusing but it really isn't... it's kind of pathetic.

Thanks friends!
In SR I learned: "be done"
I am more than done!
I placed a couple of other boundaries yesterday. I feel great.
The funny thing is that yesterday, too, an ex contacted me- he is smart, fun and hard working- he is studying at Cambridge now, and I was thinking how great it is to interact with people you admire... people who able to grow up...
