Great stuff he's doing!

Please get to Al-Anon meetings yourself to be prepared. Pick up the pamphlet What to Expect After Treatment, and the booklets Living With Sobriety & Homeward Bound so you have a better idea of what's coming! Also grab the paperback book How Al-Anon Works. Invaluable though only $5!

out rehab already after 6 hours

well RAH discharged himself from rehab
after six hours.it was a religous cult
not rehab. they said if he didnt accept
jesus as his saviour he would never get
better. had to learn bible readings off
by heart, no outside contact, be there
12 months, no valium for his anxiety as
vallium is
evil more than alchol. the
only rehab was dvd on substance abuse.
cant blame him for leaving. if they pray
for him it would eas his anxiety. ffs im
religous but that is all overboard.
church 3 times a week and too take
notes, they said it is rehab though
cause they dont allow alchop.
disappointed thinking this was rehab and
would help

Well, if that's the truth, then I hope he seeks another facility that will better suit his needs.

But I highly doubt its the truth....just my humble opinion.

In retrospect, all the crazy things my AH had to say about rehab probably weren't true. What I didn't know at the time was that I didn't have to go pick him up or bring him home.

all the crazy things my AH had to say about rehab probably weren't true.
Including:
too religious
crazy religious
religious nutbags
they just herd us into meetings all day
no real recovery (I would love to know what he thought real recovery looked like)
I can do this better on my own

was true

i rang the center and they confirmed what he
said. they also told me his psychologist
couldnt help him because he wasnt
religous enough. they dont even know
him.the only way to bet alchol is to
pray to jesus. dont think this is going
to help. hubby is distraught thinking he
was doing theright thing and getting
help. at least he got through all the
stress of today without thinking about
having a drink

the famous quote I heard about rehab. . .

"i can get more drugs in rehab than I can out on the street"

then i heard an old-time in AA say at a Convention - "I had to learn that I could get sober anywhere regardless like it says in the Big Book - "job, no job, wife, no wife ~ no matter what or where I just have to trust God and clean house"

when an A is truly ready - it won't matter - they will be willing to go to any lengths to achieve sobriety

Just what other friends that are A's have shared with me -

all I can suggest is what would be best for you maybe to take care of you & try to focus on your recovery ~

PINK HUGS,
Rita

Most rehabs you go into will never allow you to keep taking any kind of Benzo's. I had A heavy heavy opiate addiction, but took Kolonpin and Xanax as prescribed for my PTSD, and Anxiety Disorders. The first thing they almost done was taper me down off all the Benzo's. The reasoning for this was, they want you to live and learn with the coping skills they're trying to teach you to prevent you from having to rely on another substance. I wish him the best, I struggled for almost 8 weeks coming off of the Benzo's even though they were prescribed. Is there any duel diagnosis rehabs you can send him to?

I have heard many people on SR say Salvation Army has a good rehab and it's free. Just another option!

dessy: That's too bad about that crazy rehab.

Don't they get it? A person has to make a decision to become sober and recover (or not). A person also has to make a decision to become spiritual and grow in faith (or not). Both are very personal decisions. Going throught the motions is just that. Not genuine, and we all know a lot about that just from dealing with the A's alcoholism and addiction.

Sounds like a bunch of idiotic, incompetent zealots.
