IMHO, showing children of an RA normal drinking in the home, may give them the false sense that alcohol is okay for Them too (at an appropriate age). However, they may have inherited the genetic potential to not process alcohol in a normal fashion (like the non-A parent demonstrates). They won't know if they can process alcohol in a normal fashion until they experiment with alcohol on their own.

I have taught my children that they are playing with fire if they experiment with alcohol. It has the potential to destroy their lives.

Maybe right now abstinence is best when they are there, so they don't have alcohol around with one parent at least?

Is their mother active or recovering?

Eventually they will see on their own the difference between use and abuse.
