Just saw him walking down the street

Oh man...

As I was walking to work today my axbf was walking 50 feet in front of me, yikes.

I wonder if he got a job in this neighborhood, that is the last thing I need. I'd be running into him all the time. My hands are shaking... I am sad.

If I do have to see him on a regular basis I hope he can at least be friendly and not scream at me again...

I do my best to make sure this doesn't happen to me. And I mean down right stupid about it. Like scanning the parking lot at the grocery store before going in. I don't know why, but the idea of running into my ex really bothers me.

I am hoping it goes away over time, but for now, I just accept I am being crazy and there must be a reason for it! ; )

Good luck with yours!

I'm sure I would have reacted similarly.

When I am caught off guard it is a good time for me to use some one-liners on myself. They can really help me re-focus. It gets easier and faster the more I do it!

If I'm feeling panicky or guilty I might remind myself "Feelings are not facts."
If I'm distressed over someone else's issue I'll say "Whose hula hoop am I in?"
If someone is being a dumb azz and it is getting under my skin I say to myself "Get on my own side of the street."

Is there a one liner that hits home for you that you can pull out and use to re-focus in case it happens again?

I am going to have to prepare myself for the fact that it may happen again. You would think SF is a large city but I run into exes constantly. I guess if I run into him I will try to act friendly, but today I am feeling the pain all over again.
