I was looking for this thread to comment & you all had already bumped it back to the current page, lol!

I read this info earlier this week & did this with DD last night to deal with these headaches she's been getting daily, after school. I know it is related to the anxiety of switching gears at the end of a long day just peaking physically but for about 30-45 mins she ends up in acute pain. After one run-through of EFT her pain went from an 8 to a 4 & we were able to do this while driving in 5:00 traffic. I'm a fan!!

I also signed up for their newsletter on the website & they sent me "subscriber's links" to additional downloads, mp3's etc.

Great info!!!

I am familiar with EFT also- It really does work. I find for me, i get much better results if i really concentrate, really focus, and add some slow abdominal breathing. (i usually use this technique for anxiety, panic attack, and stress kinda stuff) And isnt it great that it doesnt cost us a penny!

I'm really interested in this ..... but ..... it's so different. (I really want to use the word weird and not different but my mom drilled into me that it's more polite to say 'different').

How do I get over that?

Maybe keep doing EFT about it (only half joking).

I did my first EFT session with a specialist about 2 years ago and it worked wonderfully! I have done some on my own since, but had forgotten all about it until reading this. Thanks for posting... I needed the reminder!

I did the Brad Yates one on Betrayal about a week ago and cried pretty much all the way through it (because of what I've just gone thru with AXBF betrayal and lies, etc). I did it again yesterday and did not cry one time. This EFT just brings such relief. I love Brad Yates!!

So yesterday when I picked DD up from school she immediately asked, "What are those tap spots again?" (Her headaches are generally daily, short but accute) We walked through the simple technique again & she felt immediate relief.

I listened to some of the mp3's this morning & I really think I will schedule some time for this for me every night before bed. I think this could be a very beneficial tool to add to my therapy!

Interestingly, I had printed gobs of info from the website to take home & read over the weekend but never got time to read. My mom stopped in for a surprise visit & decided to share with me that she was horribly abused at a very young age & has spent the last 50 YEARS repressing it. Long story short - she had a breakdown over the holidays & it lead to her starting therapy & finally addressing this issue.

I ended up giving her all of the EFT information I had printed because she's searching for techniques to help her work through this & finally open-minded enough to accept more than just a prescription as a solution.

I recently went on a meditation retreat. Besides meditation we did exercises in breathing, qigong, and meridian tapping. The qigong and tapping instruction/exercise were the best part for me. After the exercises I felt so relaxed and at the same time energized. I am starting to make these a part of my daily routine.

This warms my heart and makes me smile. Thank you for sharing that. I've also read that when you are in acute anxiety, if you tap on the "Collarbone" spot, it will provide immediate relief. ("The collarbone spots are located about one inch down and over towards the outside of where a man would tie his tie. I use four fingers together on each hand to tap the collarbone spots. Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap. An alternative is to pat both spots at the same time with the flat of one hand, with about the same pressure as you would pat a baby’s back to help it burp.")

I listened to some of the mp3's this morning & I really think I will schedule some time for this for me every night before bed. I think this could be a very beneficial tool to add to my therapy!
I also have incorporated EFT into my nightly routine and to tell the truth, I think I have gotten more benefit from EFT (for free!) than the therapy (almost $200 per session). I'm also benefiting a lot from reading books, especially the ones about disordered, manipulative, covert-aggressive people.

Aw jeez, yes, I understand. I think a lot of women who are of the older generations have suffered many, many decades from their childhoods, and never talked about them to anyone because so many of the things that happened to them were just not talked about. I just want to give your mom a hug. Does she know how to use a computer? Can you show her Brad? I know there is one for trauma and abuse in his YouTube library. It really has helped me to work through some of my issues.

My acupuncturist suggested that I try qigong as well... she said it was the most effective method of energy treatment she's ever tried. She gave me a bunch of info for 4-day workshops that she highly recommended (& it was cheap! $99 for all 4 days!) but they're already done in my area for 2012. She said it was something I should seriously consider becoming involved with on a professional level as well.

I have an appt with her tomorrow so I can't wait to get her take on EFT too!

My acupuncturist was only slightly familiar with tapping, and said she had a book on it. I also want to check out Mindfulness – Based Stress Reduction, which is an 8-week course.

Since AH has been working nights, I'm really trying to use the time well for ME & I think this is the perfect way to incorporate EFT.... I figure if I let it simmer while I sleep I may absorb 100% of the benefit.

My mom. {Insert huge sigh here} Her trauma is enormous, she was raped, twice, when she was 7 at the playground when her older siblings (she's the youngest of 8) were supposed to be keeping an eye on her. {7 years old!! Seven!!??} Her core family is/was strict & hostile & she felt that she had no outlet to turn to & like you said you just didn't talk about these things in 1962 & they also didn't happen to REAL people. She has NEVER, until this past February, EVER spoken a single word of it to anyone. Not my dad, her family, a friend, a priest, a stranger. Yet - she said she consciously thinks about it at least once EVERY day since it happened. I cannot imagine... it's not even repressed, it's affected every single day of her life consciously. She is simply shattered right now. She starts additional group therapy next week but now she struggles so much day-to-day in ways that she didn't before.

If she takes well to the EFT info I gave her, I will definitely point her in the direction of the youtube vids. Thank you so much ~everyone~ for this info.. it is so relevant in my world right now!

Last night I did this one:

Tapping for Rejection and Abandonment - EFT with Brad Yates - YouTube

I'd like to offer it out to you because alcoholism in a loved one itself = abandonment and rejection. Then there are those of us who have also been physically abandoned, which was my case, and I know several of us are struggling through that right now. Despite my knowing it is best for me to be away from the AXBF, and that it is best he has finally gone, it still hurts like hell to be rejected and abandoned by someone I loved so much.

So, last night, while tapping through the video and saying Brad's words, I cried and felt so bad acknowledging my feelings. And strangely enough, old memories of having been abandoned and rejected by a friend almost 30 years ago came back up. This morning while getting ready for work, I cried some more, from deep within my soul (yet again). But now I am feeling a little better and I feel like my self is accepting the rejection and abandonment with a little more strength. I don't know how else to describe the feeling. I am going to stick with this one everyday for a little while, until I notice more strength. And I'll let you know how things work out, in case anyone else is interested.
