About second chances

Sometimes giving someone a second chance is like giving them an extra bullet for their gun because they missed you the first time.

suki44883 08-04-2012 10:49 AM

Amen to that!

AlcoholicLove 08-04-2012 10:53 AM

Amen, indeed...

to quote alice in chains, "you opened fire...and your mark was true."

this is so me....giving him a second chance, now I don't know what to do since he has relapsed after 9 months sobriety. I do know what I should do but my heart is having a hard time letting go again to the man I fell in love with.

I gave my XAH so many chances... it was like I handed him this gun....

Second time I've seen this quote today! Looks like I gave my ABF a machine gun with plenty of ammunition.....parts of me are exploding everywhere!

That's a keeper! Here's one of my favorites:

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

X you totally hit the nail on the head - brilliant way to put it!!!

I don't think it is wrong to sometimes give someone a second chance. Maybe even a third. It is the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, etc. chances ...

Diva76 08-05-2012 09:21 PM

Thank you for sharing SUCH a brilliant quote;)

Shadydeal 08-05-2012 09:41 PM

Gosh, I lost count! Thank God that I did bc it makes me kick myself!

Thank you. I think I too have given well more than a second chance. I think I gave her her last chance too. And she would rather spend the time with the other man. Things like that make my choice easyer. But dealing with it is the hard part.

I had to leave when the active alcoholic started collecting guns, a lot of guns.
Everybody has to draw the line somewhere.

I had to have an "emotional rock bottom" I reached this after giving him (as well as other boyfriends with addictive issues) numerous opportunities throughout the years. I was tapped out.
