Question Where Can I find a Support Group for Family of Alcoholics?

Please forgive me as this is my first posting on here and this question has most likely already been answered before. My boyfriend is a very heavy drinker, and when he is drinking he becomes very vulgar with me and puts me down constantly. When he is sober he is just fine and wonderful to be around. I know I or anyone else cannot make him quit or change, but I am in desperate need of some kind of support system for myself. Does anyone know of any in the Milwaukee area or online that I can turn to for help? Thanks for reading.

No worries, ask anything you want. That is the whole reason why SoberRecovery exists, to answer the same questions for people who have not yet heard the answer

In addition to the web link given above you can also look up al-anon in your phone book.

Welcome -- and I second what Tuffgirl said. This is a very helpful, loving community where most of us have been through sort of what you're dealing with.
