great news

As you know my husband went to rehab in May and had a great experience and says it was life changing.

Our whole world has changed. It is amazing to see the man I knew existed inside the alcoholic come out.

For the hard core people cant reformists please don't rain on my parade saying it may not last bla bla bla.. thats not what I am hear for your.

At the end of July he will have been sober 90 days and I would like to do something special for him. Get him a little trinket.

Any ideas?

I'm happy for you both!

I'm not going to rain on your parade, because I believe people can and do change. I did.

About the gift........anniversary dates are tough for some people in recovery.

In my case, anniversaries are bitter-sweet. I am thankful everyday for my own sobriety and recovery, yet I also know how much pain I caused, and how much time I gave away to addiction. Just a heads up if he seems sullen on the anniversaries.

That being said, I do buy myself something personal as a gift to me for another year of life. My first gift to me was a great pair of walking shoes.

I have been sober going on 4 months now and I just started learning the guitar. It may be a good gift if needs something constructive to fill his time. Be warned though it is addicting LOL

That IS great! I, too, am looking for some hope out of mine and xabf's relationship, so I won't rain on your parade either! He's about 3 wks sober, and drank water at the bar all night last night where we went to watch a band with some friends. It scares me a little that he seems to be doing it for me, but as long as he's doing it, that's all that matters. We were living together before all the recent drama, but I'm taking my time easing back into a relationship.

Best wishes to you!

That makes me so happy to hear. As Pelican said -- there are people who successfully stick with recovery, and every single one is like a meadow of flowers...

As anniversaries can be tricky -- why don't you ask him if he would like to mark the occasion somehow?

Great news, indeed! Congrats to you both for weathering the storm.

As for anniversaries...I have to agree with lillamy & say maybe ask him how he would like to mark the occasion, if at all.

I think 90 days is a wonderful and fantastic accomplishment!!

How about a nice fancy dessert somewhere after dinner to celebrate!

I remember my early sobriety milestones and
going to meetings with family and the fellowship
of many there to witness this awesome recovery
success. Each day sober or clean is a miracle
and yes it should be recognized and celebrated.

I have many Recovery Gifts scattered around my
home to be enjoyed while on my recovery journey.
AA plaques with those important saying as a reminder
hanging on the wall high above my tv.

Lighted AA symbol in neon blue hanging on my
bedroom mirror and numerous other recovery
items from books to jewelry to all my AA medallions.

My sponsor presented me with her own medallions
that her sponsor passed on to her as well as other
sweet gifts like chimes that hang outside.

This year to celebrate my 21st sobriety anniversary,
August 11, we will be on our way back from Sturgis,
so while we are there the week before, I asked my
husband to take me to the AA central office to get
my chip. That to me will be something I will always
remember for this yrs special sobriety anniversary.

I hope some of my ideas will be helpful to you to
celebrate ur husband early milestone in recovery.
