How Alcoholics Think

I'm reading a book that explains a great deal about alcoholics (20.5 years sober) and co-dependents (yup, that's me). It's called "Addictive Thinking" The author, Abraham Twerski, is a psychiatrist who specializes in addiction and also a Rabbi. I recommend it.
One thing I do know is addiction is classified as a mental illness, which is the heart of the matter (it's not a disease of the elbow, lol). Even AA's big book says "drinking is but a symptom..." of the disease.

Thanks for this recommendation - would you be so kind as to share some highlights that really spoke to you?
