text war

How can I be doing so good and being healthy and then let him get me wrapped up into a text war? We are almost at the end of divorce. I know he is going to try every last thing from being nice, to mean, to sweet, to a bully. I am falling into the trap because it is an emotional time.

Brownhorse, I had to change my number just for that reason. It was too easy to communicate with him and start the back and forth that he's so accustomed to. I don't want him to have my number so therefore I don't text him or call him. We are going through a divorce as well and it is a very emotional time and I am strong but I am also weak against him so the less contact the better. We have a son together and if he calls the house, I let me son answer the phone and talk to him and when he is done I simply hang it up. If he continues to call back, I unplug the house phone. There is nothing we need to discuss, he can take it up with his lawyer, my lawyer, or whoever but done is done and that's simply the way it is.

I'm with anvilhead. The only person I would be talking to would be my lawyer on the phone. Enjoy the fresh air.

brownhorse,

Don't let a drunk get you into a circular conversation.
You will remember what was said, and it will hurt you.
He can easily forget, call you tomorrow, and apologize,
or call tomorrow and say "blah, blah, blah, blah" which is just about as helpful.
You can do it brownhorse, put down the phone.
He is wasting your precious time, and the results will be nil.

Beth

A pox on cellphones. Pfffft.

Technology makes it too easy for addicts to suck us back in.

Wow! I feel the love and support. This website is wonderful. Yes Chou, I have a lawyer. In fact that is what started all this. I am meeting him in 40 minutes and thought my stbxra could have a reasonable conversation about what he wants me to put that he gets from the house....

I have to say that this above was so dang hard for me, until I started doing it. It was amazing how easy it was to not engage. And I also realized just how much time I was wasting by engaging in crap and drama. And how I could put that time to better use doing something productive.

Try it. It does work!

You are not having a text war with your ex, you are having a text war with his last drink, or his next drink, or the drink he is having right now.

Alcohol takes hostages and it continues to try and get old hostages to return.

You don't deserve it, you have given enough of yourself to the disease.

Go live you life and find happiness, it's time.

take good care K

Its okay to make a mistake by allowing yourself to get sucked in. Just double your efforts of not getting sucked in next time. This too shall pass. Its almost over hun.
