"Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could be any different"

I think this is one excellent concept of the definition of forgiveness. Letting go of the anger that things weren't the way I wanted them to be was a big step for me. Probably the first step toward forgiveness. Acceptance of the way things were and are right now and finding some peace with that.

A great book I read on forgiveness was called "Anger and Forgiveness" by Earnie Larson. I recommend it highly!

I like this definition also and found a similar one last night in the book I am reading on grief which I like a lot.

I read "How Can I Forgive You and the Freedom Not To" and got a lot out of it.
