Update - April 2012

Hi all, sorry my posts have been so sparce.

I left my AH right after Christmas.

I've been living with a close friend since. It's been hard, as she lives about an hour from my job, so the commute was killing me.

As of last Friday, I officially have my own place!

I got a one-bedroom apartment for me, my DS ( age 2), and our dog. It has a lot of space, it's really close to work, and it feels like home. :)

The divorce is still going really slowly, but AH is being somewhat reasonable, since he's living with his parents and is fighting his ex in court, as well as his 4th DWI.

He still thinks I overreacted by leaving, and that since his drinking "isn't a problem" that I must have just been cheating and needed an excuse to leave. Lol quack quack quack.

Anyway, I haven't looked back, or lost any sleep over any of it. I've actually been surprisingly calm, and happy! Oh, and I sleep so good. it's nice to have hope for a better future again.

Thank you to all of you who listened, advised, and were just there for me. I don't know if I could have done this for my DS and I without you. :ghug3

So good to hear from you! I've thought of you and wondered how you were doing. So happy for you getting your own place. You can fix it up the way you want it and make it your very own sanctuary of serenity. Thanks for the update and keep taking care of yourself! :grouphug:

How wonderful that things are working for you! I know all too well how exhausting a commute to work is.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your experience, strength, and hope.

Yay! no more cage for you. The best feeling for me was finally moving into my own place with my kids as well. Maybe a little smaller, kids have to share a room, but we are happy and I am so happy for you, that you finally get some of that happiness! Thank you for posting, I had wondered about you a couple of times!

it's so nice to see someone move on from the drama and actually let go. so many of us keep looking back and you sound so healthy and determined and like you actually did have enough. nothing like an alcoholic to suck the living hell out of a marriage, the love, trust, affection, everything goes, alcohol is the great remover, I love that term, it is true. so true. I am happy for you, no one needs that nor deserves any of it. life is too short to be stuck in a hurricane in a tunnel and don't I know that too. great news. happy for you. m

I'm in the middle of leaving my AH right now. I actually did leave him about 10 days ago, for 2 days, and then I moved right back home. The day after I turned in my keys to my new place I gave AH a drug test. He failed. I kicked him out and thankfully they're letting me have that new place again!

Your post gives me so much hope! Thank you for sharing!
