March 21 in The Little Blue Book ONE DAY at a TIME in AL-ANON

March 21 in The Little Blue Book ONE DAY at a TIME in AL-ANON:

People whose problems have brought them to the point of despair often try Al-Anon as a last resort. Filled with thoughts of their unhappiness, their whole idea is to talk it all out. Fortunate is the newcomer who finds a group that permits the relief of such expression. It gives others something by which to measure their own progress. It gives them a chance to express compassion, to give encouragement and hope. But still more fortunate is the newcomer to a group that does not allow such unburdening to continue, meeting after meeting. There is work to be done, new ideas to be learned, and for that the problems of yesterday and the fears for tomorrow must be put out of the way.

TODAY’S REMINDER

Al-Anon is not a sounding board for continually reviewing our miseries, but a way to learn to detach ourselves from them. I will learn by listening, by reading Al-Anon literature and by trying to live the Twelve Steps.

“The more I immerse myself in Al-Anon teachings, the more I will get from them and the more I can help others.”
