OT? about my home group...
 

I have noticed with being in my home group of 2 years...that as of the last year...loosing members...and its hard to say why...but i feel my home group is NOT as welcoming as "we" seem...

i am new(well, i feel new, dont know that ins and out of the group) and many of group friends have left ours....

any suggestions to bring this to the long time group members without being well...snobbie?

dont get me wrong i love my group...but sometimes i even see it....

I don't seem it but I'm shy when I first meet people.
so...it's really hard for me to say hello to a new face or welcome them like I should.
I felt guilty about this recently and actually need to address it.
a member brought her adult son as a new visitor.
I should have introduced myself and welcomed him...but I didn't. I feel bad about it.
I'm going to talk to her and apologize for not being as warm and open as I would have liked to have been.

I understand of being shy...but the "old timers" there, i guess, should know better than me....

There is a difference between _length_ of recovery and _depth_ of recovery. If they _should_ know better than you, but they don't, then maybe the one with the greater _depth_ of recovery is not them.

I've had meetings where people left, and the "feel" of the meeting changed. Sometimes I made an extra effort to be the one that became more welcoming. I made some good friends that way. Other times I decided to shop around and find other meetings. I found some very good meetings by doing that.

And then there's been times when I just started a new meeting. Some of those meetings grew, a lot of new people arrived, the meeting became wonderful, time went on, people left, the meeting changed, and then I left for other meetings, or other cities.
