I Did IT!

I finally did what needed to be done.....it took a long time, but my ah was served papers on a protective order today....after snapping and leaving a bruise and threatening my life.....this was a huge thing for me bcuz all of a sudden nothing else mattered...all fear and worries aside I knew I had no choice. Still nervous about him drinking and doing something stupid but this no contact rocks! Than u all...gerryP and others I should have listened sooner.

Moni,

I firmly believe it's not about what you DIDN'T do in the past that matters. It's about what you ARE doing now. You rock!

You did it when you were ready. That's when you were ready.
And now you have a brand new life ahead of you.
Stay safe. And stay here.

We know when we've had enough when the fear fades away and determination and action take its place. Good for you. When my ex live in ABF STILL would not move out even after he had rented an apartment I had the locks changed on the doors and threw all his stuff out on the front lawn. When he came home I just said "Get out!" I never regret doing it not even for a second.

Great job - I hope you never hear from him again.

Very proud of you, and not to rain on the positive parade, I have a request.

Have a plan for your safety, there is a theory in self defense called "condition yellow".

When you are at "condition yellow", you are aware of your surroundings at all times, you know who is around, and before you leave to go to your car, your keys are in your hand so you are ready to jump into the car and immediately lock the doors, your cell phone is always charged and handy, you have pepper spray or some other defensive item like a defense pen readily available. If you need more ideas let me know.

Best of luck to you,

Bill

The most dangerous time for an abused woman is when she tries to leave.

Please do not underestimate him. Be safe and have a safety plan in place in case he does react badly.

most of all....don't let him sweet talk you back!! You have one foot out the door...now run!

and...congrats! and keep coming back!!!
