... and how it ruins so many lives. Several posts made me sad today.

What else makes me sad: My ABF's alcoholic cousin is in the hospital -- 27 years old and having pancreas issues due to drinking.

What else makes me sadder yet: Hearing my ABF's "drinking" voice on the phone today. (I told him I couldn't talk to him - I established a boundary of avoiding him when alcohol is a factor).

Sigh.

Jessie, I know it's hard, my mom has been an alcoholic for over 40 years, it has damaged everything in our lives, but, it's not our fault, and there are fantastic people here we never would have met otherwise.

I am so proud of you for setting a boundary and sticking to it, great job!

I do understand, my mother has been drinking for 65 years, dealing with her is a mess.

This is one nasty disease that there is no cure for...how sad is that!
