TC-I'm looking forward to your thread. I also don't mind if you hijack this one! There are plenty of photography forums out there, and I participate in some of those, too. I like sharing here though because people here know me and have been with me throughout this difficult journey. It feels good to share the "view" from the other side. Six years ago I didn't even know who I was, other than the wife of an alcoholic. I'm living proof that life can and will get better.
Ann-lol on the "camera recovery plan." I tried many things along the way in an effort to discover myself. Nothing really clicked until I tried photography. Everyone has something they were meant to do. The key is to keep trying till you find it. I would love to see some of your photos, too.
Posie-It's true. Each and every one of us is so much more than the loved one of an alcoholic. That is just one step on our path.
Jazz-Last time I posted, you liked the night shot, too. Hmmmm. You must be a night person, lol.

LTD... I love all of your photos! It's truly amazing how you capture nature! I am big into photography too but I'm lousy at nature shots!! I excel at pictures of the kids and loved ones... I love "stalking" them and getting shots when they don't know I'm there!
Thanks for sharing your photos with us

Ah LTD, I just love these pictures.
You see my blue heron. It is a good drawing, but not for real.
That heron hanging on a rock looking for a snack (see, i have his story in my head) is for real.
thank you
Beth

(as i run away giggling like a little girl!)
I am asking my kids to pool their money and get me a camera for Christmas.
yes, excellent idea.
where would i search for a good one with a good price?
Beth
<snicker>
you are as corny as i am. hehehehehehe
Seriously, though, I assume you are looking for a nice compact point-and-shoot? If so, I hear a lot of good things about the Canon line.

I, like LTD, have spent far more on camera bodies/lenses/accessories than I care to add up too!!! If you are looking for an SLR camera (body with different lenses) - I personally shoot Canon. I started out years ago with a Rebel XTi - entry level body that I bought all sorts of lenses for... and then eventually upgraded to a mid-level body. I've had great luck with my gear.
My dad shoots a Nikon digital SLR - and it's amazing. The Nikon lenses are, I think, superior to the Canon - but his gear also cost more than mine (for comparable quality levels).
I've had really great luck buying stuff on-line from BeachCamera.com Another place that is great - newegg.com

that is where i will look then.
I had a canon with two lenses many years ago, way before I had an interest.
But, yes, I will look there.
Point and shoot is best, if I am lucky I will be happy with some of them.
I use pics for the memories.
Now, I want to start some nice memories.
Like when I went to a nearby park where they have chickens, geese, turkeys, lambs a horse and a donkey. A good day with my son. (21 years old! ack!)

Oh my gosh those pics are beautiful but especially the waterfall! You surely are talented LaTeeDa. I would also like to have a talent or hobby that I am good at. Thank you for sharing.
Love the pics, I wish I could make the mountain one my screen saver, it is breathtaking!
I have a nice Cannon, yet most of my photos turn out cr@ppy. I am thinking of taking a
class on photography, probably won't help, but, it is worth a try!
Thanks so much for posting, your pics never fail to lift my spirits!

Dollydo -
A photography class will do wonders for your picture taking!!! I took one through our Town parks & recs department - 5 classes 45 minutes each... at was SHOCKED at how much my photos improved!! Understanding HOW a camera works (shutter speed, film speed, aperature, etc) helped me understand the "tricks" (fuzzy water, blurred backgrounds, etc). That little class (that cost me $60!!) turned my family pictures from snap shots to artwork! I had a small photography business that came out of it as well!

Dolly,
I agree with GB. It's not magic. It's definitely a skill that can be learned. When I first bought my DSLR, I was disappointed that it didn't take better pictures. After all, I spent all that money on a camera and lenses, it should take better pictures! Turns out, it was not the camera, it was me.

Thank you so much for the pictures. I am not into photography but I enjoy looking at it.
