Saturday was good...
What a wonderful update, Mike!!! It is a great illustration of how focus on one's OWN recovery can bring about beautiful things. I'm very happy for you that you and your wife had a happy day together. I certainly know that we've all had times in the past when we never thought even one great day was possible.
YAY for your great day!
And I wanted to add that I am so very confused by these threads today...LOL

Saturday was good...
Hi all,
Just a little update on my situation. I had a date with my RAW on Saturday. We have been separated for a little over 5 months now and this was our first time seeing each other socially. I was a little apprehensive but things turned out very well. We went to New Hope, PA and had a wonderful time at an arts and crafts show and just shopping in the town. Had an nice lunch on the river and actually talked to each other. Something we haven't done in a long time. She seems to be taking her recovery seriously, she talked about respecting my boundaries and that she would just have to be patient about resolving things with our adult daughters. We laughed and had a good time.
We even got lost twice, once on the way there and once on the way back and neither of us got upset. Getting lost used to be one of her big triggers.
I realize it doesn't mean all is right in the world and that she is cured but it was a very nice day and I'll settle for that.
Whatever happens in the future I am grateful for Saturday.

Your friend,
It sounds like you two had a great time. I'm glad you are living in the moment, and enjoying it for what it is. You've come a long way in a short amount of time.
It also sounds like we traded states for the day.
My sponsor and I spent Saturday in Oaklyn, NJ - the Ritz Theater is playing "Moon Over Buffalo," and we decided on a last minute dinner-and-a-show. Something I used to always do with XABF, back when he could control his drinking enough that we would actually get to the show - it felt good to do the same thing with someone more reliable (and much more fun!)
