Sorry to hear what is happening in your life. Physical abuse is a deal breaker in my book. He truly has lost all self worth and he disrespected you. He is not worthy of anymore of your time and energy.
I certainly hope these recent events will allow you to close this chapter of your life. Time to go forward with your life. Do not look back, take care of you.

No contact, no nothing, he is a dangerous man, a must miss.
Sorry, however, he could have killed you, the HP was in your corner, you were not injured, he was arrested.
