Hurricane Irene AH won't evacuate!!
I just can't believe that AH won't evacuate. We live on the Outer Banks of NC. I'm taking my daughter and leaving. Major stress going on here.... I know when I tell him we are leaving he is going to give me grief and complain that I am over reacting. I just don't trust his judgement. He likes watching the storms and drinking of course. I think they cut off alcohol purchases earlier. Doesn't matter there is plenty in the house and garage he can get his hands on. Our house is surrounded by water, there is a flood hazard where we live. Need validation that I am doing the right thing leaving him behind.... anyone???
Of course you are doing the right thing! You are smart. Get yourself and your little girl to safety. He's a grown man and can make what ever decision he wants. You are a grown woman and will also make your own decisions and so don't let him talk you out of it!
Praying that the hurricane, by some miracle, moves back out to sea.

Most definately get your daughter out.
Err on the side of caution. Just you going through the motions of getting out may make him change his mind, but probably not.
The tidal storm surge is going to be bad on this one; so if the thunder doesn't get you, it's possible the lightning will.
Be smart and safe.
I'm in upstate NY and have already moved our boats out of the lake, secured our docks to the treeline, put things in our shed on the upper levels of the sheds, and am ready to leave due to flooding in our area. They are already calling for 8 plus inches of rain here - devastating in my area.
I rode out the nor'easter of 1992 in my houseboat (sustained winds of 75+) and I will never do that again. I was very, very lucky.
You are in the direct line of sight of this storm. Get out.

He's a grown man and has every right to make his own decision.
Keep your little girl safe. Better safe than sorry.
It's never "overreacting" when safety is involved, especially when it is the safety and welfare of your own child.

Thank you all for the input. My daughter and I are leaving in the morning against his wishes. Still feel bad for leaving a sick man behind. I wish the storm would hit in the morning or early afternoon so he could make good judgment calls, but It doesn't look likely. My daughter doesn't understand why daddy is not going with us. She is worried about him staying as am I. I just have this bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. But I know I can not control what he does. I have to keep her and I safe! Thanks again for all the responses it really made me feel better.
