who paid for treatment

for those of you with AH or AWs, who paid for treatment? I put almost $2,000 on my CC to help him get help.... and now he wants to do out patient.... another few thousand dollars. I wish him the best and I am happy that he is seeking that extra support, but he has no $$$$ or job.

what do i do about the next few payments without feeling resentment.... which i already feel since i have to pick up the slack for all of our bills in the next few months?

Well he can do ALL the 'outpatient' he wants where you live.

There are AA meetings, practically 24 hours a day.

There are many here on this site, both here in the F&F and those in recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction, that did it WITHOUT someone else 'paying for it.' And we (myself included) have recovered.

I know personally that where you are in L.V. that Salvation Army has a GREAT FREE program as does St. Vincent De Paul. There are several 'Alano' clubs (where meetings are held from early morning until late at night) also in L.V.

I say the above, because you were 'generous' enough to give him a foothold in sobriety. Now it is up to him to cement his progress and keep moving forward ON HIS OWN.

I hope yhou have found some help for yourself, be it Alanon, private counseling with an addiction specialist, your church community, or somewhere else!

Stay strong, stay connected with S.R. and remember we are walking this with you 'in spirit' and someone is almost always here to respond.

Love and hugs,

Well, he can go to the Salvation Army program free. Or, he can get a job and pay for the outpatient treatment himself.

In the meantime is he going to meetings? Is he actually embracing a recovery program, or, is he just white knuckling it?

I paid for it.
I resented it.
I ultimately got out.

If he really wants it, as the others mentioned, there are free options.
Good luck,
D

When I finished rehab, there was no luxury of someone footing the bill for outpatient. I was the single mom of an eight-year-old daughter, and I had to support the two of us. I hit all 4 meetings a week that were available all the time, and attended the once a month aftercare session that was provided for former rehab patients the first year I was out.

As has already been said, you live in an area with a wealth of free resources.

Please do check into Alanon for face-to-face support if you haven't already.
