and makes it sound real. Especially the part about picking up the cats. Of course I'm at work. Its almost quitting time so I call the police and head over to her apartment. She's fine but she is most certainly messed up on something. I talk to the nice police officers a little, the emt's arrive and try to get her to go to the hospital for evaluation. I talk some to her and convince her to go. She's taken to the crisis center and I'm left at the apartment. I'm taking the day off tomorrow to go get the cats and any other important stuff I left behind from when I moved out. She should be there in the hospital for 72 hours.

The good news is my recovery tools worked as advertised, I coped very well and had minimal interaction with her before she was hauled away.

You handled that perfectly! All suicide threats should be taken seriously, but let the professionals handle it. If she had been serious, then she would be in the perfect hands. If not, then the hassle of having to stay on 72 hour psych watch will probably be enough to keep her from trying a stunt like that again.

Once you get the cats and all your belongings, if she tries that again, just call 911 but don't show up over there. I doubt she'll try again, but if you refuse to be "on call" for these shenanigans, they'll stop.

Y'know your recovery tools are working when you can roll through a suicide admission without breaking a sweat.

That is truly miraculous, when you stop to really think about it.

My exah has threatened suicide several times over the years. Its the ultimate tool of manipulation. It worked for him. His threats immobilized me with fear.

The hardest part of the whole day was all the phone calls that needed to be made.

Lexi, I may want to trade cats with you. The one (Mimi) is very sweet but she drools, especially when being petted. Of course her way to deal with it is to shake her head and fling it everywhere. Yech.

Way to go you handled it with grace and dignity and didnt get sucked into her emotional roller coaster. That is a glowing example of loving detachment, you loved her as your childrens mother enough to get her help but left the help to the professionals way to go.

I have a drooling cat, too. She's got some other quirks as well. She doesn't destroy furniture and she does her business in the correct locations so she gets to stay.
