Anyone else have these thoughts?

When you think about your family members, friends who ever you know that has a problem with drinking. Do you ever wonder if they're drinking like, right now. My daughter is in college and she clearly drinks too much. It's Saturday night, this happens to me every Friday and Saturday night, I'm wake watching a movie or whatever and I think to myself. "My little girl is probably drunk right now and doing something that's going to hurt her life". Anyone else ever have that feeling?

I used to be stricken with this feeling every night, weekends were no different than a thursday.

Living with an addict that you love is awful. It detracts from your ability to be present.Ultimately, it can steal your life away from you.

I am up on your posts, and I feel your pain.
I have a six year old, and I think,"I will put my body between him and alcohol...he just cant go down this road..."

I really dont know the pain of the parenting position in this, but,as far as your actual question goes, :

Hell yes, I wondered if he was drinking for a year or so, then I KNEW he was drinking, then I wondered if he was alive, with another woman, or in jail.

Please keep going to alanon.
And keep posting, here!
Try to do something that feeds the light in your own life, tonight.

I think we all do.

Then the focus begins to change
and we get more into
our own circle ...

and they still come from time to time
but they're not 'charged' with all that emotion
and attachment.

I used to say
'well, in a way I always know where he is'....

only now
there's no pain with it.
Because his being there
no longer diminishes ... me.

Hope that came across.
