Thanks everyone

Still -
Funny - I told the doc that with my 'hypothyroid' metabolism
the only thing I could do to lost weight
would be
to put plant food in a glass of water
cuz it can't handle any more than that!

LOL!

Man I'm glad to find these here this morning.

Woke up remembering exactly EXACTLY why I've been home all week.

My stomach said
'You've got maybe four seconds to get someplace
cuz I'm about to go inside out"

SO it's only beginning.

I've got to go explore the substance 'TOFU'
something I've enjoyed maligning for years...
Now it maybe all I can have lol

Barb,
So glad for the update - been wondering if all was well (and thank you for the PM this am; your words are a comfort to me)

Natural diets aren't all bad, once you get over the difference in taste. My Mom is a big health nut, and when we moved in 4 months ago she immediately put me on all kinds of stuff, and darn it - it works! I look better, feel better, lost 10 pounds, sleep better...just overall in better health minus the stress of living with an alcoholic and being on a better diet and supplements. And luckily, tofu takes on the flavor of whatever its in, it really has little taste on its own. I've been very pleased with the omega oils, I take it in its oil form...two tablespoons a day (one am and one pm) and wash it down with a mouthful of water (the taste isn't bad, the feeling of the oil is what eeks me out) and I can really tell a big difference in my nails, hair, skin, and joints.

Keep us posted - sending positive thoughts and prayers your way to feel better soon.

My mother has entirely managed her diabetes through diet and exercise. It can be done!

I took a nutrition class through the gym I joined, and it was one of the best investments I ever made.

My triglycerides were horrible too for the first time in my life, so I'm anxious to see what the next round of labs shows.

Cutting out the processed foods was hard, but it makes a difference in how I feel.

Thank you so much for the update, barb!
I am glad that now the problem is known, and there's something you can do about it!
At least it is something where the treatment will also make you healthier in other areas, as well!

Hugs, Barb. It's not the same, I know, but being diagnosed with gestational diabetes whil pregnant with DS was such a shock. But I was relieved to have an explanation for everything. I'm so glad you've got the reason for your recent health concerns.

TC, the oatmeal comment of your father's was exactly my first thought when the dietician outlined a typical breakfast.

I may be investing in a juicer...

I can't believe I just wrote that.

I grew UP with that stuff all over the kitchen
people coming over and asking what that was on the counter
but that's how my mother treated her cancer.

So it's bringing up some stuff
and pushing buttons
pardon the pun.

But if it's time - then it's time.

Hey, Im sure you are aware, but there is probably a local co op or even a whole foods type grocery near you.
They have a lot of options for diet restricted folks...

I am not a good cook, but I do go there and eat from their prepared food bar often (Co-op)
I have lived for longterm periods on raw food, and have done juicing for life, everyday for periods of time.
The benefits are really undeniable, in so many ways.

I know cheesy sugary gluteny wicked food is hard to let go, but, it will help you to feel better, AND definitely lose weight if you juice.

I am actually feeling inspired...I have an ACME juicer here, I will have to dust it off, but I may join you in a diet change.

Also, the co op or vegetarian restaurants can help you get more acquainted with tofu and other options in a friendlier way. Some places know how to prepare ot so well.

At least you could get some recipes or ideas. And maybe tofu will become your friend...
