He Tried Again - This Time At Work
I know if I go to HR, he will try again, by showing up at my apartment, and if he's going to violate my request I would rather he did it at work (many more witnesses, faster response from security than the police would provide, many more options about repercussions).
I am sure he will try again, and then the "fun" will start, but right now, I need the space and time to make sure I have everything in place when I do act, so that all my bases are covered.
I am currently researching restraining orders.
I know this man well enough to take a strong enough guess at his next move, and right now my gut says I have time. He will be burning up his remaining vacation days, so he'll probably be out of work for the next two or three days, and he certainly won't bother me for awhile after that as well.
Several of my co-workers know the details of what is going on, and someone upstairs has also volunteered to help if necessary. (He even wanted to set up a "code word" for me to slip into a conversation, just in case. He doesn't go into detail, but I am suspecting his wife was formerly married to an abuser.)
And then there's company security.
At home I park on the other side of the building, take the stairs instead of the elevator, and always lock the deadbolt at night. The parking lot is also patrolled by the local police - but I still would feel safer if he tried to contact me at work rather than at home, so I will not go to HR until I have everything in place, which leaves work the more tempting option for him, and leaves me safer right now.
One thing at a time.
My eyes are open.
I have a little card on my desk, with a retro-style drawing of a woman from the 50s behind the wheel of her car (complete with hat and white gloves).
The caption reads, "Ran into the ex today. Put it in reverse, and ran into him again!"
