Emotional day today...

I got all of my forms today to apply for my two diplomas and order my cap and gown. For all the graduates of the RHIT program, there is a pinning ceremony the afternoon of graduation. Despite all the challenges that have come my way over the past 2 years, I'm on the downhill slope.

I had surgery that turned out to be more extensive than expected less than two weeks before my first semester. I had my 23-year-old daughter move back in last semester when her abusive ABF kicked her out. That was difficult for both of us. I know both of us were glad once she got set up in a place of her own.

This calendar year has been the worst as far as my depression coming on full tilt. I am still battling it today, but I keep taking one step forward at a time.

I am so incredibly grateful to each and every one of you here at SR who have cheered me on in this incredible adventure.

Graduation will be May 13th, one day after my 53rd birthday. You can teach an old dog new tricks!

I will still have to take the exam to become nationally registered as a health information technician after I graduate, but I am signing up for the 3 month online review that will help me prepare for the exam.

What marvelous things have happened in my life since seeking recovery! To each and every one of you here I pray that your life too will be blessed in recovery.

(alright, I will be 52 in April ;))
This is great news.

Congratulations!

It is a great thing, to never give up on dreams.
It is even greater to finally realize them.

I am so happy for you!

So I suppose on May 13, we will be holding an SR graduation party?

Congratulation to you Freedom!
What a wonderful accomplishment!

I will be 53 in May too! And even though I have fewer material possessions, and I am no longer married, or living with a man for the first time in my life, and even though I am living in the smallest, most run down space I ever have before, I have never felt more successful! Recovery is truly a blessing.

Congratulations, Freedom! It's so great to see someone in our age bracket realizing their dreams. I am slogging it out with on-line courses for my Accounting Technician diploma against the better wishes of some in my life and it is so rewarding to take each step, finish each course and feel such a sense of accomplishment.

(((DeVon)))) - what an awesome birthday gift you are giving yourself!!!

I'm still following in your footsteps..have been approved for the RHIT program, starting in Aug., as long as I keep my average at a C or above..so far still have a 4.0, but am working on accepting that I don't HAVE to have an "A"...you've helped me with that.

Love, hugs, and prayers,

Amy

That is some awesome news. Congratualtions.

I love being in my 50's. It's like a new life beginning
with so many wonderful things to experience. Im
51 now but I got all my tattoos and learned to ride
a motorcycle at 49. My new husband and I just
celebrated our 2 yr wedding anniversary this past
Valentine's Day and getting ready to embark on
another fun trip on our Road King to Daytona Bike
Ralley this coming week.

And the fun doesnt end there as I can't wait to
see what's around our recovery corner. :)
