Want to share a moment

So I went to a happy hour tonight with a few coworkers from my last job and one brought a friend. It was a small group. And no it wasn't a heavy drinking group. Just a light get-together.

So a couple of hours in, I realized I was having a truly great time. There were no thoughts of him, the sadness or problems from him, no connection to him. I felt like I truly enjoyed these people's company and was completely into that without any pause.

It was so great and reminded me of the person I used to be. And I was just so happy and thought, "Wow if it could just be like this everyday again...back to the happiness I used to have." I just really wanted to share it with all of you. It's so great to think that I could be there again one day.

You will be. Keep doing things you like to do and whenever you catch yourself thinking about him, immediately focus on something else. One thing I used to do is wear a rubber band around my wrist and whenever I'd catch myself thinking of something I didn't like, I'd snap that rubber band on the underside of my wrist. It did help me realize and catch myself before I took it too far.
