Music
I have started to listen to music to help me through this difficult time. I am really finding it comforting and takes some of the heartache away.
Here are a couple of the new tunes I have been listening to:
"A Little bit Stronger" by Sara Evans
"If your going through Hell" by Rodney Atkins
"Little Ms" by Sugarland
What have you guys been listening to lately??

Breathe (2am) - by Anna Nalick
Stand in the Rain - by Superchick
Summertime - by Ella Fitzgerald
Paper Moon - by Kelli Ali
Stinging Velvet - by Neko Case
Last Day of Our Acquaintance - by Sinead O'Connor
Give Me One Reason - Tracy Chapman
Dilate - album by Ani DiFranco
The Open Door - album by Evanescence
Don't Throw Me Away - album by The Mumlers
And just because I can't help smiling or laughing when I hear them:
Chick Habit - by April March
Tangerine Speedo - by Caviar
How Bizzare - by OMC
(My iPod died, so my music choices have been sadly limited.)

What a cool video that was!
I re-discovered music (music I'd missed for at least 20 years when I was occupied dealing with alcoholism--other peoples' and my own) when I kicked the last ex out. I am a total Green Day groupie (at 54)--this Saturday I'm going for the second time to see American Idiot on Broadway. Billie Joe Armstrong is performing IN the show--I am PSYCHED!!

Cool!
I have rediscovered Rush of late. yeah, we know the songs on the radio rotation. But there is SO MUCH MORE. I'm really a huge fan now. I buy the CD's on ebay for 3 bucks. They are really, really good. Give it a try. "3 Stage" is awesome. 3 different live performances on 3 CDs. And they are one of the few bands that sound IDENTICAL live. I saw them for the first time in Nov. WOW.

Music is huge in our lives. My AH is a musician and usually chose the tunes because his tastes were always more important than the rest of ours. Well. that's not really fair. He did enjoy stuff the kids listened to. Was pretty open to new stuff. Anyway. I had a really hard time listening to anything that did not remind me of him. I wound up listening to country music. Not the best to listen to when heartbroken. Rascal Flatts has been very inspiring. Yes many songs make me cry but I also listen to Unstoppable every morning before I get out of the car to go into work and face my day. I also listen to Nick Drake before I go to sleep. I find his music and voice relaxes me. At this point I am doing anything that can help me make it through.

Rediscovering Zappa and Johnny Cash again.
Also listening to a lot of Black Eyed Peas, Avenge Sevenfold (thanks to my 14-yr old daughter) and Matisyahu (Nothing says musical curiosity like a Hasidic Jewish Hip-Hop artist)

geez.
man, that is gonna be awesome times ten.
I'm a fan of country, and it wasn't until I got sober that I realized how many country songs mention drinking...
Oh well, I still love my country songs...
"Let it Go" by Tim McGraw is a good sober one...

Some of my favorite music usually doesn't have lyrics, but I bet you'll find yourself taping your feet, feeling like dancing and wishing you were in the islands

I am not big on country, but I like old school country. I just got introduced to Jamey Johnson and I love it. He has a song called "High Cost of Living" which is about an addict, that is powerful.
I love 80's stuff as well.....
I love 80's stuff as well.....
Most unhappy love songs seem very manipulative to me now...
At least the country songs are honest that they're drinking too much.
Not that they do anything about it, but still.
MOST SONGS: I do everything for you, and you didn't do all the stuff I said you should do, and now you're blaming it on me, and I miss you, and I didn't do anything wrong, and you should come back because my life was comfortable with you here and I don't want to work on anything, but I'll say it's my fault if that helps convince you to return...
COUNTRY SONGS: I drink too much, and the drinking chased you away, and I miss you so much so I'm gonna have another drink and think about how I miss you.
I was driving to work in a particularly low mood one day, and all three radio stations I listen to were playing this song (I'd never heard it before).
Alright, HP, I'll listen to the song! Geeze!
It has become one of my favorites since then...

I posted something similar a few weeks back, this is the band I've been listening to a LOT.
YouTube - BRAAM - "BURLINGTON NORTHERN"

Aw, I wish you could come with. I am going with a gal pal from AA--I took her to her first Green Day concert last August, when they were performing in Camden on my birthday. Summer before, I saw them in San Jose, CA, and the first time I saw them in concert was in 2002 on the Pop Disaster tour. I took my kids and was blown away. Been a fan ever since.
Lexie...HAVE FUN!!!
I LOVE Green Day!
Red Hot Chili Peppers are who do it for me right now. I set their station on Pandora and listen all the time. I love how Pandora plays music similar to them.
Other bands I love listening to right now are Sublime, No Doubt and I have to listen to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers every now and then.

I went to Green Day last summer. I had a blast, AH did not, he spent most of the night complaining and buying $5 beers. Because they're too "political" now. Whatever...I'll admit to a bit of a crush on Billie Joe(more so now than when they first hit the big time, he was kind gross then. LOL)
My guilty pleasure as far as music goes is Glee.
Can't do country, the few artists that I liked AH has ruined for me, as it's usually a country song that he will do the "repeat for hours" thing. Oh wait..he hasn't ruined Nickel Creek for me. But I don't think he enjoys the alt.country stuff anyway.

Just heard this one today.
Rascal Flatts - "Feels Like Today"
Awesome song about a burden being lifted. I am starting to feel that and it feels good. I do not have to carry around the alcoholic burden anymore.
PEACE
