O/T almost sold the house!
O/T almost sold the house!
Well, almost two years on and it's nearly time to say goodbye to my brothers house.
I love that house, but I hate it in some ways too.
For the last two years I've sort of taken on a caretaking role for it, I had to really as Joes guardian and it beinghis now, I had a legal responsibility to keep it safe and well! So did the nutty one, but needles to say she never bothered further than putting cheap air fresheners in every few months!
My mum and dad understandably aren't keen on going in to the house unless they really have to, but they've done their bit, they helped me empty it and get rid of all the 'stuff'.
I've dealt with a garage break in, two burst pipes, all the insurance stuff, keeping it clean, absolutely everything.
I've also gone there for quiet times, when I wanted to be close to my bro and just think.
But now we've signed the contract for the sale, I'm happy and sad.
I never really understood 'closure' but this is what I'll be getting on Friday hopefully. Well exchange and complete then and the house wont be my responsibility any more.
The family who are buying it are a young lively couple, two young daughters, four dogs and some cats (I forgot how many she said) At the moment they're all split up because their previous accommodation got messed up, they were living with 'his' family and I don't know the details, just that they're all missing each other and can't wait to all be under one roof.
Obviously the house has been empty for so long there's no reason for us to hold up the sale, Oh hang on, we have the stupid other aunt to deal with don't we!
She didn't want to sign the contract today, because she doesn't actually have a copy of it. I have a spare one here, but no, that's not good enough!
I told her if she didn't sign her part I would be on the phone to my solicitor first thing, explain how unreasonable she is being and ask her to take action so that when we lose the sale the court will act in her place in future dealings (she's trustee for joes mums estate)
She signed, were done, ties cut, thank the lord!
Now we can all move on.
Closure
now I completely understand it, I've needed it for a long time and didn't realise.
I just wanted to share, it's been a stressful Sunday, but all's good now.

((((Lucy)))) - I'm glad you're getting closure, though I think ((theuncertainty)) is probably right about the bittersweet part. I can't think of anything better than having that house filled with love, kids, and furbabies
You've done an amazing job with the house, ((Joe)), his "aunt" (sorry, but I don't think she's much of one), and I'm glad the papers are signed.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

The house sale was all completed yesterday.
I just felt relief as I handed the keys over.
Today I felt a bit strange, I posted a new house card through the door.
It was odd seeing even the tiny subtle changes that happened overnight.
The for sale board is gone, the gate was open, the blinds were closed.
I hope the family were all together last night for the first time in ages.
