OT - There's Clearing out the past ...

And there's clearing out the apartment!

I have two assignments due in about two weeks
and I learned last semester
that I think better when
I'm doing physical things.

Which explains how I did
my best thinking
while cleaning stalls.
It was a meditation thing with me.

And something no one
other than a total horse freak
would ever understand. LOL!
Gardening - comes close.
Landscaping...maybe

ANYWAY _

the code for the weekend is as follows:

If I haven't worn it
Sat on it
Looked at it
Used it
...in the past year ....

I don't need it and someone else...might!

so out it goes.

I can NOT stand clutter.

I'm not holding on to any clothes
thinking "I get back into this"
worn out shoes
out the door...
out of style
out it goes.
I've spent half my life
hanging on to clothes
thinking I'll 'get back into' them.

Screw that.

I'm keeping what I wear
(and one 'funeral' outfit - I *am* southern)
but everything - EVERYTHING else
buh-bye.

I don't know WHY this works for me
but it really really WORKS... for me.

So LOOKOUT GOODWILL!!!

I'm not a skinny little bartender any more
it's been three years
and the weight is not coming off
so that's that.

Make the best of what I am
and quit living in the past or future
for some skinny miracle to happen.

I.. am right here.
I am like this ...right now.

get over it.

Barb's cleaning house!

It'd be way more fun
to throw it all out the window.

But I'm on the fifth floor.

And there's a house down there.

But maybe they could use extra insulation on their roof?

Thanks, Barb. I needed a distraction.

You crack me up! And I so get it!!!
I relished going through and throwing stuff out when I left.
I used to have a huge walk-in closet, you know, one of those customized ones that you see on Sex and the City (only smaller and with cheaper clothes ). Now, all my clothes fit in one chest of drawers and a coat closet.

Out went the "I'll be a size 6 again soon" clothes.
Out went the wedding dress.
I'm hanging on to two ballgowns only because I know a couple of HS girls who can have them remade into nice homecoming dance gowns (they won't be able to afford new ones, and they're my size).

I thought when I did it that I was just getting rid of the memories, and that I would replace them. But I'm feeling lighter not having a bunch of clothes that give me accusing looks every time I open the closet....

I don't have stables to clean out, but I promise you, the kids' rooms come pretty darn close...

Go Barb!!!

Hey, (((Barb))) - any way you can pass this trait on to me? I'm the exact opposite...overwhelmed with clutter and don't want to even start on it. I know I feel better when everything is clean, but I just can't seem to find that "get up and go" feeling

At least I can find my school stuff....sigh.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

I'm finishing up my coffee... doing my computer thing...
(i.e.: hanging out here)
then have a Liberal Studies Club meeting at noon...

engines are revvin up even as I type!

ha, my house only ever looks clean when I have work to do, but in my case this is a procrastination thing "I can't possibly write that report when there are knives in the fork drawer" etc etc.

declutter away, it IS freeing.

Well, the meeting is over
and as usual
I'm WIRED FOR SOUND
on expresso

(we have the Liberal Studies meeting at a local coffeehouse)

so I've got shirts, jeans shoes, and two purses
stacked neatly on the couch
because it's going to drive me crazy
to leave them there.

I'm having a quick sandwich
(because I'm so strung out on caffiene EVERYTING is quick right now)
and then walking over to the new grocery store
with an empty backpack
to get a box of strong trashbags
a bottle of bleach
and something 'natural' for dinner.

I've got a new audiobook
to listen to this evening...

and got the alarm set for the chat meeting tonight -
hope I don't crash and sleep through it!

...she's stocking up and settling in...
so let it snow!
