This is so hard
AH left just over a week ago.He has been to 2 AA meetings and not had a drink for 15 days now.Yesterday I went to a meeting with him at the addiction centre outpatients where the GP referred him.For the first time ever he admitted he is an alcoholic and will never be able to drink normally. He cried for the first time for the loss of his son 3 years ago,and for his daughter suffering from the same terminal genetic condition(these are adult children from his first marriage)He admitted he found it almost unbearable when our eldest daughter was diagnosed as autistic, and I was found to have a neurological condition resulting in me losing most of my eyesight. All my instincts made me want to hold him and tell him to come home. But instead I gave him a quick kiss ,said well done for taking the first step and went home alone.I know he has a very long way to go before I could even begin to think of us living together again.

I understand how very difficult it was for you to do this.
You have shown a great deal of strength.
Thank you for sharing that.
I am sorry your daughter is autistic, and you are losing your eyesight. Do you have support for you for these issues?
Your husband might not ever be able to be a strong supportive man.
Please take care of yourself and your daughter while he fights his own battles.
You are amazing.
Beth
