Call a Can

OK, so as business ideas go someone is probably onto a winner here.
A taxi company local to me has begun a delivery service.
They'll deliver alcohol, cigarettes and condoms up to 7am.
They seem to think it's cool as they have a strict 'challenge 25' policy in operation.

Okay, I'll admit, I'm ignorant. What is a 'challenge 25' policy?

It's a policy some retailers in the UK have, if you look under 25 years old they ask for proof of age.
Although the legal age for buying alcohol here is 18 I think retailers have adopted challenge 21 and chalenge 25 to protect themselves because kids look much older than they are.

I'm devastated to admit I've never been challenged in my life!

Ahhhh, okay! I remember when I moved away from home, and was buying from the liquor store on a regular basis at age 18. (Legal drinking age at that time for anything other than 3.2 beer was 21) I felt so darned smug that I was getting away with it.

After I turned 21, it wasn't any fun anymore!

Quite possibly Phoenixthebird, I personally think it's a disgrace. I can imagine just how much my brother would have used this 'service'. Stay at home and have oblivion delivered, hey, maybe we'll even run a tab for you.

LucyA, I'm sure you meant the company would run a bill for "them". I agree it's a disgrace. My post was only my attempt at trying to make a point!

I am only a social drinker. I actually only drink for the taste, such as strawberry margaritas and fine wines. After about two glasses I become very sleepy. Even though a couple small glasses of wine is actually good for the body system, and my doctor has told me that I could have some, I have not have any type of liqueur since my stroke.

Best Wishes!

We have that service in North America.

The way I look at it, in having the service available, it can and does sometimes prevent drinkers from getting in their cars to get to the liquor store for more sauce, when they are already too drunk.

Regardless, each persaon is ultimately responsible for their own consumption.

I hadn't thought of it like that, I just thought of someone ( a paid enabler if you like) taking it to the door.

And I'm almost sure I don't refer to alcoholics as 'them', that would make it them and us, and in my opinion we're all human.

I think you mistook my attempt at an imaginary ad for them as a comment directed at you. It wasn't.

The cab service here in Butte does it, too.
And you can run a month's tab.

I agree in that it keeps them off the road.
