What Brings You Serenity?

I am focusing on the little things today and thought I would share. Please post the little things that bring you peace and serenity.

When I have cleaned the floors in my house, from top to bottom.

Buffalo66 11-25-2010 07:51 AM

When I work on my creative pursuits, writing, painting...Things that are all my expression, my energy.

When I spend time with my friends who do ot judge me or focus on my relationship dynamics, and just have fun.

When I am able to express things without anger, expectation, or threat.

Warm, cozy nights with a book or a movie.

Sober Recovery forum.

These things bring me serenity. Thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving L2L, and thanks for this thread. :)

Serenity for me =

Early morning while the house is still quiet. That's my prayer time and me time.
My warm, happy home with my girls -- my safe haven any time of day.
Anything outdoors when the sun is shining and the wind isn't blowing.
Time with my family and trusted friends.

I could keep going, but I won't. Thanks for causing me to think about these things today, L2L. I have a lot to be thankful for. Serenity is a gift in itself.

Now, I need to get back to cooking. :)

A warm bath

Sitting in bed reading with a cat on my lap

A good meal

Groovy tunes

A sunny day

nodaybut2day 11-25-2010 10:08 AM

Holding my little girl, either while she giggles and squirms in my arms, or while she sleep peacefully.

Patting my superduperaffectionate kitty.

Giving or getting a nice, long hug.

A long and quiet stretching session.

Dancing a beautiful sensual tango (no surprise there!).

Prayer to HP.

I want a cat or dog so bad!! But with my ADHD, it is so hard to take care of any more responsibilities and I'm afraid when I get an animal, I won't be able to care for it properly and/or then I would have to give it up and possibly take it to the shelter :( Wish I could rent one :)

I am so glad you have this though BrooklynGirl!! It sounds so nice to be kept warm with a kitty.

What bring me serenity regardless of circumstances is:

Acceptance
and Gratitude.

I went snorkeling Tuesday in the Dry Tortugas about 70 miles west of Key West, FL. When you put your mask on and your head in the water all you can hear is your own breathing and you see the coral and fish. It was the most relaxing and peaceful thing I have ever done. For that little while everything else in my life went away and it was just me and God. It was spiritual.

Actually.........

You can foster a cat, until a home is found for it. There is always the need for foster furparents. perhaps that will tell you what you think about having one of your own forever.
you can ask at a vets, a shelter, and especially the no kill shelters.

hugs,

But don't you need to be home all day in order to foster?

Babyblue 11-25-2010 01:16 PM

Music gives me serenity.
Being out in nature gives me the most.
The other day I came across a stream that was in the back of someone apt. complex. I stood there looking at the rushing water and the trees and I swear I felt my tension leave my body instantly. It was that fast. So I told myself I need to get out in nature more.

L2L,

Not at all. My vets assistant fosters. and she works full time. she has other cats as well . I believe that they (the shelter or the sponser) will help with vet bills, but not sure about that.

i work each day, have three cats and cats are pretty easy. if they weren't I would be in trouble. i find them so much easier than dogs, tho i love dogs.
cats can go in their litter boxes, and do not have to be taken outside. you can train them to walk with a leash, some times.

have you ever had a cat? i find it wonderful company. they are quiet, mostly, and always love you unconditionally. so many need homes, too.
you would be an awesome furmom!:c043:

I love snuggling in a freshly laundered and made up bed after having a bubble bath with an exciting and interesting book.
It just feels so very right.

My writing. What started as a hobby has turned into the backbone of my income. I am a published fiction mystery writer. I do it for my own amusement and amazement and love it.

That is my Serenity!
