What book?
 

I am still living with my ABF, more or less seperate lives and really working on the detachment. I have very little money but I can afford to buy one book, what would you lovely people recommend?

I would recommend Codependent No More by Melody Beattie.
get some highliters too.
(okay, i love highliters!)

Is it lovely in Sheffield England?

Sheffield is lovely, very green and beautiful (though some parts are not so nice)

I would recommend "Getting Them Sober" by Toby Rice Drews. You can also read many chapters on the website Getting Them Sober- Recovery Communications. :grouphug:

Most likely Meadowhall in the next few months....not so nice and very very busy in my experience!!

Welcome to SR, Strawberryfair. Depends on what type of information you're looking for.

The first book I picked up was Under the Influence by Milam and Ketcham. I wanted information on what alcoholism is and what it does to the body and this is an excellent book for that.

I brought home The Brown Bottle by Penny Jones for DS. It actually helps to remind me that the bottle has taken over STBXAH's promise. (DS likes the book too.)

OT - Wicked, I'm a highlighter and pen fanatic. I have a small 'treasure chest' at home (an old wooden jewelry box with hammered metal in fleur de lis design on it) filled with them. DS loves it and has taken to storing his crayons in it too and uses everything for his art projects. I think I might have been a writer or scribe in an previous life, new pens are just so cool! :)

I'd recommend these two books too! And if you have no money, try your local library. You'll be amazed at what you can find there!

There is another site, Half.com: Textbooks , Books , Music , Movies , Games , Video Games which is a off spring of ebay, you can get new books at half price or used books really cheap! If you have an ebay account you can sign in with that.

Thanks for all your replies and help. I managed to get a secondhand copy of Codependent No More...Just on chapter one and can't put it down, OMG I can relate to all that is being said.

I would recommend "The Language of Letting Go" which is a daily reader but has such amazing insights and really helps us to work on ourselves. Also a Melody Beattie book.
