My Sister and BIL hit by a drunk driver

Coming home from work, stopped at a stop light in a line of cars. He was going at a high rate of speed for the road and apparently barely missed other cars before slamming into my sisters vehicle. They in turn slammed into the car in front of them, and that one into the one in front of it.

The police removed the drunk from the scene in handcuffs.

They took my BIL to the hospital via ambulance, he hit his head and snapped his neck pretty good. He's home now, thank goodness. They know to keep a close eye in case he gets suddenly worse.

My sister is sore and shaken, but okay.

Thanks you all. I'm fine Wicked, my sister called me right after it happened to put me on "alert" so I was ready to go when she needed me to get her at the auto place they towed the vehicle to. Then I took her to the hospital and visited with my bil while she dealt with the insurance co.

Boy, my bil was some kind of mad. He almost got physical with the guy....

He's going to be hurting pretty bad tomorrow I'm afraid.

I'm glad you were there for them. Your sister has a peach of a sister in you!

How awful. I am so glad that they were not hurt any worse, and that they are both home and safe.

My prayers for an easy and swift recovery from their injuries.

It was a close one, thank goodness they were in a big vehicle....it might be a pain to park and hurt at the gas pump but it sure does pay off when something like this happens.

My thought too was "better pay more attention to what's going on behind me" but really, what could you do? They couldn't go forward, and they couldn't go sideways. Trapped really.

Accidents happen, but you are an accident when you get behind the wheel drunk like that.

Back in my accident investigator days, it always left me dumbfounded that the one who came out of an accident without a scratch was the drunk who caused it. Lots of physics behind it, of course. Later on in my relationship with XABF it just irked me that he didn't suffer consequences of his drinking either like those drunks in those accidents.

SW, thank goodness no one was seriously injured. I hope that guy gets the book thrown at him.

Glad they are ok, but sorry they had to go through this.

I hope the driver gets what he deserves.

My prayers with them both, and I add one for the drunk who hit them....that this act is his also him "hitting" his rock bottom, and seeking recovery.

My sister is sore the entire right half of her body, I guess the impact must have knocked her to the right into the door of the vehicle. BIL is resting comfortably. She said they both slept good.

He was released on a $500 bond. I assume that means he doesn't have any priors. No idea.
