Thanks again.
I had a quick run and then did my pilates tape.
Then phone call from brother. He's there. "The eagle has landed." He's having chest pains so brother is taking him to emergency room.
I also asked brother to try and get him to stop using debit card. Will still try and take my name off the account tomorrow AM.
I'm studying for my exam and will try and get a good night's sleep.

Well, I'm glad he's alive, and YOU, my dear, sound terrific!
I remember well that feeling of calm that descends when you realize you do NOT have to continue to be a hostage to someone else's alcoholism. Suddenly, everything you need to do sort of becomes clear. And if it's not clear, there's a calmness that when the time is right it will become clear.
It truly is a spiritual experience, I think.

Thanks a lot you guys.
I had to go down to [yet another city down south] to take qualification exams today. They were rough! But I think I passed.
had the phone off all day in exams, but got a phone message from husband's brother--evidently husband woke up feeling better and said he wanted to come home. According to brother's message, husband would be home in the mid-afternoon. So I was thinking he'd be here when I got home and I was sort of mentally preparing myself.
I got in around seven-thirty, no husband.
Hey maybe I'll make another missing persons report! Hahahaha just kidding.
Tomorrow: work, phone calls to bank, making sure my auto-deposit paycheck doesn't go in my old bank account, check on application for apartment.
Hey, also got notice that another short story got accepted for a literary journal. I've had--touch wood--kind of a good streak lately with that.
Tonight, sleeping in guest room to ensure not getting surprised by great lumbering mass of self-pity.
Thanks again, so much, for letting me vent here. I don't know what I'd do otherwise...
hugs....

Oh, and I called the bank and they were shockingly nice and helpful! I just fessed up to the woman the whole situation and we went through several options and she was able to freeze the joint account and then set up a new checking account just for me on the spot. She really was wonderful and sympathetic.

Akrasia,
Hang in there. I am glad he's among the conscious? I mean I'd like to say 'living' but he's certainly not doing the thing I like to call 'living'.
You, however, are sounding terrific!! You are taking life by the ..... (you know) and finding some joy! Gotta love that!!
Hang in there.
Thanks for sharing your story. It's helpful to me.

Thank you so much for sharing this. So often we are paralyzed by how we imagine or "awfulize" things will go - and we never take the steps to just deal with practical things head on. If we make a plan, reach out, and just face these fears they turn out very different and less frightening than we imagined them!
Peace-
B
