OT: Got my divorce certificate in the mail
I know it's just a silly piece of paper, but it's still nice to have in my hands. I did balk a bit when I read: "The union of NoDay and XAH which was celebrated on X date..."
Um, yah, there was no celebration. It was quickie wedding a city hall, attended by two strippers and a downstairs neighbor, and a cheap lunch at a restaurant in a mall. Yeah baby, my dream.
In any case, I wanted to post this for other who are struggling to get free of an abusive alcoholic/addicted partner. I joined SR last year in September--at my wits' end I might add, left XAH in October--with the unending support of SR, got sole custody of my sweet DD in May 2010, and my divorce was finalized on July 1st, 2010. 10 months from start to finish. It IS possible to get free and start anew.
Don't lose hope. And keep coming back to SR. I know it saved my sanity.

Congrats....oh yes SR really helped me too.....let go or be dragged....and the fact they are here when you feel alone like your problem is rare.... at 3am in the morning...there are lots of us at different stages chugging along and joining others in recovery....and helping each other out of the fog....drama....chaos...ick....negativity....into boundaries...integrity...lessons learned....positivity....hope......gratitude.....

well, i think THIS calls for a celebration!
why don't you do something special for yourself tonight? you've earned it. maybe a night out to dinner? or even pick up small treat for yourself, like buying your favorite food (sushi, thai, indian?) as a takeaway and treating yourself (and dear old reliable dad).

My good good friends held a funeral for my marriage, we buried it! And then we had a party. It was awesome! Mourn, celebrate, do what you gotta do to integrate it and welcome the joyous new future you are creating!
