How about those government agencies.......
Man, went to talk to the lady about my "options" today.
She was very nice, but I'd done my homework and it was clear I knew more about what was going on than she did.
Any way she sent me home and I was told to drive to Austin to check out the deadlines for next semester.
She also told me that when these 6 mths of benefits run out thats it, other guy said last week that we could apply for extensions, she said there were NO extensions?
Then she called me at home and told me that none of the three options we'd discussed were on the official "list". She was glad she caught me and saved me a trip to Austin for nothing. O.K.
She then called me back and told me they'd been discussing it, and had decided 2 of my 3 choices WERE actually doable. O.K. Then, during this conversation, I asked something else and she told me something completely different than she'd JUST told me. Ha!
But you know what, I'm not the least bit discouraged, would have been a few years ago pre-Al-Anon, but NOT TODAY.
I'm going to go to Austin, gather my information, and "ACT AS IF", I have funding. I truly believe the Universe will make it happen, somehow.
I''m beginning to believe if I asked 20 different people at the workforce commission the same question, I'd get 20 different answers. Man what a great place to practice recovery tools!

It is sad and frustrating, but having worked in government, many people there are hired for reasons not obvious to me. They last through the probationary period and then stay until retirement. They CANNOT get fired unless they do something horrible or the position is eliminated.
Most private sector people would be appalled if they new how inefficient many programs are.

Oh WOW! You have the same fun with Govt departments as we have here.
When I tried to get a FINAL and correct answer to pension question, I got 3 different answers from 3 different officers, then when the pension came thru.....It was totally different to those others, and I had to go thru it all again.
Coyote, just go where you think you need to, and hope someone actually knows what they are doing and saying. You may actually get lucky.
