Nurturing yourself
Nurturing yourself
What are some of the things you do to nurture/take care of yourself during the rough patches?
Today, I decided to make home made soup (I make great soups), walked around the grocery store and finally went and got myself this AMAZING choc. chip pound cake at a bakery near me. I lost so much weight so can afford a few slices.
Then will watch a few new movies I got.
What have you done to nurture yourself today?

I love soup, especially pea and ham soup.
I tried to make it once, unfortunately I didn't know that the dried peas would kind of expand and double in volume, they ended up all over my cooker top, all green and thick and running down the sides!
What was left in the pan tasted good though, and it gave us all a laugh for the day.
I never tried since.

hahahah
I love vegetarian pea soup.......never made it though.
Soup is such a fab comfort food.
Not very original, but I have a long bath, with a bottle of relatively expensive bath oil, smelling fabulous, showering is a daily chore, but the time for a long bath lying completely submerged with no children calling out for mum, is wonderful. a new book, I'm trying to break the chocolate habit.

Eating well always makes me feel great, whether it's a bowl of comfort soup or a beautiful salad. I also like to spend a whole day cleaning my place and making it super pretty and stocking the fridge, and then spend the whole next day relaxing in my beautiful house. It feels so good when it's clean. I also like to take the kids to the park or something to feel like I'm not a horrible mom. Most of the time when I'm going through something hard, I have the extra guilt of feeling like a horrible mom for one reason or another, so if I take initiative to pay some attention to them I don't feel so awful later on. Oh, and water. Must drink lots of water.

Taking time to work out every day is my treat to myself. I don't always feel like it in the beginning, but it's a great stress reliever (keeps me from killing my AH) and I do it 100% for myself. It's my alone time. And it keeps me from feeling bad about all that Kraft mac n cheese that I love to eat!
Make up a batch of pasties! I use the same recipe as my mum and grandmother, and I think it came down here in 1788 when my many times great, grand-dad came here.
While rolling and cutting out pastry or mincing vegies, I begin calming down and feeling soothed. I also refuse to consider calories on those days.
God bless

You're welcome any time Missb, but you have to bring that pretty little girl of yours. My daughters would love her!
Jadmack, your pasties sound delicious -- recipe from 1788 -- that's amazing. I've never made them, but a lady I work with brings them to school during the holidays. Barb...you probably know this...they're a VERY traditional food in Butte. Some good pastie makers in that town!
Wanting, I do the same thing...love to enjoy a clean house and then cooking and baking and being a mom. I love my job, but I wish I could do that full time.
