Sorta OT: Just One Small Step For Barb....

... one splat in the parking lot for an old b*%$h!

Coming out of the District Meeting last night -
The Treasurer and I stayed late
to get some stuff arranged so she can find it easily
on the new District Computer
(the computer I'm using right now)

well,
the building was closed up
it was almost 9:00 and very dark....
the parking lights weren't on for some stupid reason.
it was raining, as well....

I tripped over one of those candy-bar looking things
made out of cement that they have in front of parking spaces
to keep you from running into the building....

It was so freaking dark - I didn't see it!

So I hit that - and my only thought was

'don't let the computer hit the ground!'

and I went down, holding the computer case up ...

ker - WHAM!!!

then, right behind me, the Treasurer
does the same thing
over another one
coming over to see if *I* am okay.

But she didn't have to 'save the computer'...
so she didn't fall like ... Buster Keaton...

I knew I'd hit my foot pretty hard

got up this morning -
and couldn't walk.

I had to get to the dentist...

so I go limping in there,
looking every bit like the old horse trainer that I am...
you shoulda seen their faces.

I've got a bruise on my STOMACH
(I have no idea)
my foot is swollen
(got my hot rice packs on it right now)
my shoulder that took the weight
there's no 'queen waving ' for me today - can hardly raise it....

now I'm seeing a nice bruise coming up on my hand....

geyah.

Gotta love gettin old.

May as well - there's apparently nothing you can do for it.

The dentist felt so bad
she gave me a mega-motrin
to come home and nap till class this afternoon at two.

No cloggin' dancin for me tonight, everyone!

OMG.

crazy.

Aren't you supposed to put ice (not heat) on swollen things like your foot??

LOL

that's what I heard, but ... um let me put it this way -

SCREW THAT!!!

My whole BODY freaks out
if youput cold ... anything on it.

LOL!

I *have* had people tell me that -
but... I just keep saying -

YOU .. are not the one 'in here' ...

maybe it's the thyroid problems that do it -
but my 'body core' temp will drop
yes, just from an ice pack -

and then I'm in REAL trouble.

I'll make do with the heat.

I just called the college-
my friend is the secretarial director of the department
(of whatever- she runs the offices)

and she's given me 'microwave clearance'

to use the microwave to heat the pads
so I can take notes in 'Social Problems' class
this afternoon.

They *have* a *desk*
that sits in the back of the room -
but it's got a raised leg thingy
just like a wheelchair

for injured students to elevate their leg in class.

OMG
I have to use the 'gimp chair' ....

So I'm gonna be leaving an hour and a half early
(the college is eight blocks from my house - just FYI)
I can SEE my apartment building from the front door of the building...

But it's those 'tiers'...
the parking lots
that are cut right out
of the side of the mountain
with eighty steps
going from one 'tier' to another....

that's going to take so much time today.

And it's cold and rainy here today.
That takes extra time, too.

LOL!

((((barb))))

Sending you warm hugs and positive healing vibes. I tripped over one of those parking bumpers once and nearly broke my neck! I think they all should be painted some day-glo colors so they're easier to see in low light situations.

Take care of yourself!

Much love,

Lenina

I think it's the Galactic Overlord getting back at me -

back in my drinking days
a friend had a b'day-
(i.e.: excuse for a runner)

there were four women in the car
and my friend drove on top of one of those things.

we got out
and LIFTED THE CAR off of it.

SO I think the .. cement bars of the world'
just got their vengance on me last night.

I've got a bruise on my stomach? wtf?

LOL

We had Career fair here at the college today -
you get TONS of great stuff -
backpacks, pens, gizmos, all that.

and I didn't get to go cuza this.

totally deflated.

I *like* promotional gizmos.

I am angry at the company that owns the building where you fell. Why in the hell weren't the parking lot lights on?!?!

I am sorry this happened and I hope you are feeling better soon.

On another note, if you have kids, there is a Tyra Banks full scholarship I read about yesterday for parents to go to school. I think it is for on-line classes but I'm not entirely sure. Just google tyra banks scholarship and it should come up.

Take care, barb! And many times there are still those kind of materials after the events, you can ask later.

I also fell down recently due to rain and platforms. My knees fell on the concrete and then BF had to "clean the area". I cried due to pain then thought "well now I am on it so why not cry my emotional aches as well" I did and felt much better afterwards. I also got strange bruises. Weird. And no, it was not well lit either!!

I got a friend with thyroids(sp?) problems and yes, its very warm and she wears a huge jacket anyway, while dancing we are sweating like pigs - but not her, she eats almost nothing and her body reacts as if she had 2 pizzas all by herself, so its like you are living in an alternate universe. So... I get it, barb.

Hope you feel better soon!

the local Catholic Church's school.

I *do* have kids but they're 31 and 30.

But I'm gonna check into it anyhow.

THANK YOU!!!!

People don't understand WHY I can't eat during the day,
like if I have to work
or if I go to school.

Because of what it does to my system when I eat.

And my body is also quite ... economical with food.

It doesn't burn off.
it just ... stays.

I wish I had the other kind of thyroidism
hypER instead of hyp-O
that's the skinny people whose metabolisms
are like hummingbirds.

Instead, I'm a galapagos tortoise.

lol

My sympathy to you as I have been there, and it was not a fun place to be. Use the gimp chair, even tho it may not be elegant.....at least it is better than using something like this.

God bless

Barb

I'm sorry but your story made me laugh. And then I winced, and my foot hurt in sympathy pains for you and your injuries.

Please watch your step, and by the way I'm very impressed you saved the laptop. We would be lost without your updates!

And jadmack? I LOVE the chair

I think it's low gravity zones. I don't stumble into them as much as I used to since I got sober but I'm sure there's low gravity zones!

My friend tells me astrologically, December is going to be wild.

(((barb))) I hope you're feeling better!

Much love,

Lenina
