Something positive...and it came from a negative

Hello SR...

I like to post positive things. Well actually this is a miracle for me. LOL.
The road I take home from work is under terrible construction and after a few weeks of sitting in bumper and bumper traffic I decided to take the alternate route, which happens to run past my stxah's job. Can I just tell you what a trigger this was for me???? I didnt see him nor would I and his building is way down the street but it made me realize why NC is sooooo important. I have been NC for 3 months..I just celebrated it..I need my 3 month chip please Needless to say I sit in traffic now and dont care because its better than facing triggers every day.

I was getting so stressed over this and the anxiety was getting to me. Now I am the type of person that HATES to work out. I used to force myself and never could keep it up. I thought I had no stamina nor endurance. Well one night I got on my treadmill and I put my ipod on and just started running. I was so shocked. I loved it. I now run 3.5 miles almost every night and I NEVER thought I could run for more than a minute. I now look forward to this every night. I feel like this new person is emerging. I did something I didnt think I could. Something positive for me. And something that challenges me. I have this whole person inside of me that I had no idea about. If I was still with my stxah I would never have realized I like to run because I would be busy taking care of HIS issues.

I never thought I could...but I DID!!!!

Hugs

Wow...to go from hating working out to 3.5 miles a day...that is huge! Congratulations on that and your 3 mo NC, and your choices to take care of you. I understand triggers! What a nasty, painful tailspin they can create. Good for you for taking care of Lulu!

Congratulations on your three months of NC and on finding a healthy outlook. I love my treadmill for the very same reason. It's an outlet. It's a way I can get away from it all without leaving the safety of home. I try new music. I try new workouts....Every tried walking fast backwards...now that's a workout for the body and mind, seems simple, but it will kick your behind.

So proud of your process and progress in recovery!! Bravo!!
