To me the image from the song

Buffalo gals won't you come out tonight
And dance by the light of the moon!

is cheerfully, refreshingly offbeat. What the heck is a Buffalo Gal anyway? I've never had a clue, which leaves it open to interpretation.

Tormented Mirror was the title of something I read on the internet. The story was unremarkable. I don't even remember what it was about. I thought the title was catchy, so I borrowed it.

Miss Bernadette, do you know what choosing your own name as your screen name means to me? It means you tend to present your real self to the world, rather than hide behind a fictitious name, like I did. To me, it means you're an honest, take-me-as-I am person, not a bore.

I'm just sayin'...sorry for the hijack...carry on.

Oh, yes, I'm Jill.

Great pic, Coffee!
You look great too!
It is so nice to see the face behind the name.

My nick is so boring. It is just my initials.
As I sign up the first time I stumbled upon this place, never read anything first (I thought it'd be rude to read without introducing myself, or at least singing up first )
So it never came to me that maybe I should try to think of something inspirational (never been to any forums before).
Only later I found out that Sesh maybe means something in English, I googled it and it seems it is something to do with pot smoking Funny, never wanted to imply anything of the sort.
Maybe it is time I change it... but nothing comes to my mind... I should give it some thought...

whenever i see yours, the acronym for "experience, strength, hope" goes through my mind, even though the letters are mixed around.

"strength, experience, serenity, hope" ?

I chose one of my favorite things.

As a child of an alcoholic father, we often had to move in with my grandma , on her 20 acre farm, on a hill in the country. Those are my favorite memories. I spent lots of time outside, in weeds up to my waist, playing. These were everywhere.

The chicory flower is my favorite flower. It can grow along the highway, in the oily, garbage-strewn soil, and in any rocky area. It came over from England. The roots can be roasted and used for a coffee additive, and maybe by itself.

The flowers are so lovely, but if you pick them , they wont stay open for long. Lucky for me, I get to see them. they come out just as the summer gets going, and I can look at them along the road. If I was smarter, I could put together some kind of allegory, about the chicory. Heck, I am not even sure allegory is the word i want , but I know that I am cared for here, and am willing to risk all, to use that word!

My love for contemporary Jazz. Bands like Fourplay, Rippingtons, Acoustic Alchemy, David Benoit. Here are two of my all time favorites:

But I grew up with classic rock and it's mostly what I play when I pick up my guitar.
YouTube
(wish I could play like Lee Ritenour)
I thought classicrockman would sound kinda stupid?

Well, since my old name has been a topic of....uh....ardent.....emails I will explain.

My old name, DirtMagnet, had a twofold meaning. One was that no matter what kind of guy was out there, if he was damaged then I was hooked. I have really only had 2 significant relationships in my whole life - my EXH and the guy I was engaged to before him. Both of them were homeless sons of alcoholics and abusers who had problems in those areas themselves. I still tell people that while some codies are general practitioners in misery, I am a specialist. I ONLY date those types of guys. But I have since retired from practice.

The other is that DirtMagnet was a nickname given to me as a child by my mother. I was always a bit different from other kids - I was never content to just sit. My mom used to say that she could clean me up from head to toe, sit me in a highchair and leave the room for just a minute, and when she came back somehow I would be dirty. A good friend of the family also used to call me Dirty Nose. I know they were kinda joking and kinda not. I was definitely made to understand that being different and thinking differently from them was not a good thing. But now I realized that it is. Of all the kids (3) I am the only one seeking recovery from my dysfunctional upbringing and current twisted thinking. My sister has an eating disorder - she is 5'2" and must weight at least 400 lbs or more. My older brother (13 years older!) suffers from untreated anxiety and panic attacks. I have my issues, but at least I am trying.

After much urging and soul-searching, Admin kindly honored my request and changed my name to PurpleSquirrel just this morning. As I wrote in another post, Squirrel was a name given to me my some HS classmates because I was always chattering about something, and they meant it to hurt me. Like many from a bad household, HS was not a good time for me. I was vulnerable and hurting and my classmates smelled blood. Needless to say, I skipped our recent 20 class reunion.

When I became a GS camp counselor in college, I chose Squirrel as my camp name in order to turn it around into something positive.

As for the purple part....look for my post on my new purple couch. So.....PurpleSquirrel it is. And it is sheer brilliant fortune that a picture of a real purple squirrel does exist - hanging around a school in England somewhere. Honestly.....

When I came in I was Dreamer999. It should have been WishfulThinker999.

Now I know what actual dreams are I wouldn't mind being Dreamer999. I mean one has to DREAM, imagine some chance, some possibility, before it can become true. Its a needed step.

I chose "Taking charge" because becoming aware of myself, thoughts, feelings, actions, emotions is something I need to have very present in my life, and I need to do it continously! its not "took charge" or "may take charge" or "sometimes takes charge and sometimes doesn't"... accepting responsibility is how I can perform changes, where one gains true perspective- otherwise I'm doomed to victimhood and I know that planet and I don't want to go back there - it sucks.

"999" comes from a manga/anime I love that is called Galaxy express 999. Mainly its the journey of a young boy and all the planets he visits and characters he knows, some very corageous. The GE999 is a train that goes through space. The trick is that the young boy goes through tough stuff but emphasis is done on the importance of youth, which I take as whatever happens one has to keep purity in the heart. The train traveling through space reminds me its a journey and we can't stay too long in a planetary station...the GE999 is always on the move!! and knows where its going even if its traveling through dark space.

When I was seven I had a dolly called Sasha.
She was beautiful - long dark hair, brown eyes, dressed in a beautiful sailor dress outfit with a little straw hat. She even had knee length white socks and black shoes on.

I loved her, she was so special. I kept her, never gave her away. She's actually a collectors doll now, worth about £800.00, but I could never ever sell her. After five long years of trying I finally have my own little baby girl who is so beautiful with brown eyes and brown hair - and when she's seven I know she will love Sasha as much as me!.

So that's why I am Sasha. The number four has always been my lucky number - passed my driving test fourth time, had a baby that weighed 4lbs who was born in delivery room 4.

Buffalo Gal, I see your name comes from the women with Buffalo Bill's Show.
One quote says, "Cody's cast of wild women of the American Old West captivated audiences - whether they were riding bulls, breaking bucking broncos, roping steers, doing bareback tricks, or out-shooting all comers. The Wild West show made celebrities of women the likes of bronco rider Lillian Smith, dancer-actress Guiseppina Morlacchi, and sharpshooter Annie Oakley, endearing them not only to the audience but to Buffalo Bill as well. He praised the trick sidesaddle riding skills of Della Ferrell and Georgia Duffy and marveled at rider Lulu Parr's ability to stay on a bucking bronco until it was broken. Altogether, these gals were an unforgettably spunky cast of characters who saddled up and rustled their dreams."

So that makes you a spunky gal who is saddling up and rustling your dreams.
Have lotsa fun doing it.

My Jadmack is just my initials and my dear dad's name combined, which says what a boring, unimaginative lost soul I must have been when I registered here.

God bless

No way Jadmack! With the lady dancing, she's from the Bugs Bunny cartoons right?

Your name along with the groovin granny, make me thing of someone who is cool and free spirited.

And you're English I think? Even so - it doesn't get any cooler than that!!

I live in a balloon flying zone, too. I live near an air field, and I get to watch their air and balloon shows from my deck. Several times a year, they host a hot air balloon race and my neighborhood is filled with all sorts of colorful balloons. Last year featured a huge black cat. I'll have to see if I can find the pics.
