Countdown to the 12 steps
Countdown to the 12 steps
by Ben and Sean, Tidewater, Virginia
12. We assumed control of the alcoholic and began to manage his/her life.
11. Came to believe that our alcoholic was insane, and that only WE could restore them to sanity.
10. Made a decision that "our will be done - come hell or high water."
09. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of our alcoholics.
08. Admitted to anyone who would listen that our alcoholic was insane.
07. Were entirely ready to have God remove our alcoholic.
06. Arrogantly point out the shortcomings of our alcoholic.
05. Made a list of all persons he/she had harmed, and lived in dread of ever seeing them again.
04. Went out of our way to make amends for our alcoholic; especially when to do so was financially and emotionally devastating.
03. Continured to take his/her inventory, and when they were wrong promptly berated them for it.
02. Sought through denial and manipulation to increase our control over their lives, praying only that God would fix things 'our way'.
01. Having had a nervous breakdown as a result of these steps..
WE ADMITTED WE WERE POWERLESS OVER
ALCOHOL, AND THAT OUR LIVES HAD BECOME
UNMANAGEABLE
